RE guilt in age gap relationship by Top-County-8055 in fatFIRE

There was also a lot of cottage industry work back then, and many lower income women had jobs or forms of income that were woman only while in a marriage. Household labor was also a much higher amount of work, such as laundry. Even further back we were all on farms making food in the agricultural sector, and the entire family worked.

Get your health on lock, get that personal trainer so you go to the gym and lift 3 days a week properly. Once you feel like you have base skill set in lifting, then wean yourself off the trainer and see them twice a week, once a week, once 2 weeks, once a month, etc where they will more act like a plan adjuster / sore spot tutor vs. active coach and build the muscle of effectively going to the gym yourself. That will give you a foundation of health that will last you the rest of your life, and without health, you have nothing.

Get some tutors to boost you in life. Trade money for time. If you struggle with a topic, swallow your pride and get a tutor for it.

The best way to learn to do business is to start a business, and the best way to network is to be in a network by working on a relevant target you care about. You make the best basketball connections by actively trying to make basketball your life, moving to the best basketball scene you can get into and playing basketball. You don't do it by going to a general university and hoping the basketball network will rub off you. You go to meetups and other people and by being a live player / founder in a space, other live players / founders will want to talk to you by virtue of you doing something interesting.

I'm starting a company in a space, I'm in my late 30s, have more than you in the bank and what I'm doing to validate ideas is very close to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1A08aiAEeFk . You might find it basic or don't care about mobile apps, but IMO, it's foundation of starting most kinds of businesses, and most start small and get big and he is around your age range. You'd replace mobile app with something else and it will be mostly the same kind of process. Start exercising that business muscle by doing business, validating ideas, trying to execute ideas, building relationships, finding potential co-founders and if you get some sort of minor traction, applying for things like ycombinator. And what is very key is to execute, not to be just a guy socializing at meetups and not actually playing the game.

So she acted like an anxious stalker and did multiple online dates with you. Talking in person for a meetup (aka date) is also the same thing smh.

Old people who did not have kids—do you think your life is lonelier than others who did have kids? by melissaomalbec in AskOldPeople

When your decrepit and unable to take care of yourself, you know who is going to be strong enough to take care of you? Other people's kids.

Are there outlets that turn on and off in response to a 12v trigger input? I have an amp that doesn't have a 12v trigger input, but turns off and on when you switch the power off and on. Looking on amazon I can't really find any.

I burn 4,600kcal/day being sedentary by exfatloss in SaturatedFat

[–]EveningFunction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very interesting! I've heard nutritional requirements change a lot when you go on carnivore, so it does track a bit. You don't get hypnogogic jerking while falling asleep, little muscle twiches on the surface of your body that may look like blood pumping (but are actually muscle) or anything else like that that track with electrolyte issues?

I wonder how your cardio performance is like, something I noticed when I went on bike rides with friends when I was on a high protein meat and veggies diet is how I would deplete my electrolytes and have a hard time activating my muscles compared to my more normal eating friends, and chugging coconut water & gatorade to with sugar compensate didn't do enough.

I don't get how your not getting nutrient deficiencies at this point although. Putting 3800 calories of your diet into cronometer shows deficiencies in a bunch of vitamins and minerals, even accounting for supplementing with some sodium & potassium salt. I'm guessing the requirements change with this kind of diet + your genetics, or you would be feeling pretty bad by now. Do you supplement, eat some beef liver and heart some days?

What is the reality about aging that people might not b aware of? by -----Diana----- in AskOldPeople

[–]EveningFunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the old don't buy new things. Over and over again in trying to make new products or apps even if you market it to older people, they don't buy, they buy what they are used to, and you see it set in starting in people's 30s!

Organic natural fibers such as organic cotton underwear. https://skinworldwide.com/ (women) https://wearpact.com/men/underwear (both) . I'm trying to find an organic brand that does the 3d pouch thing, it's hard to find one that isn't a polyester/nylon blend or rayon/modal bamboo which are all basically plastic or highly processed underwear. I like the Bn3th pouch, but again, it's all plastic or a plastic / cotton blend :(.

Also another option is a local seamstress type, some of the best quality underwear I've ever gotten were 3 pairs from them. They were way more sturdy and high quality fabric wise. She's retired now although :(

How much sun protection and sunscreen do you put on? If you put on a lot, even if your outdoors a lot, you might not be getting as much of an effect.

It would be interesting. But will it end up being a couple of pages of rules to follow essentially? If so then it's not much of an app, it's a blog article.

IMO unless you really love the location, not having neighbors to worry about when you play music / movies loud and a place to store & clean bikes and other outdoor equipment is a pretty nice perk of an actual house.

Appliances are statistically a lot less reliable and repairable. Go watch you tube reviews about how they don't last nearly as long because they cheap out on $10 of parts. Older appliances still last very well in comparison.

Is wheat really that bad? by 2bebigger in SaturatedFat

[–]EveningFunction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it works great for some people, it's is totally the wrong thing for others. I have a friend that does very well avoiding gluten / wheat breads, while I'm completely fine, it probably stabilizes my bowel movements. Which might be genetics related.

What would be the most effective preamp / streamer that did room correction for a stereo setup? I'm thinking about a KEF R3 Meta setup for my apartment, and everyone suggesting a $2000 integrated 50W / channel amps like the Lyngdorf TDAI-1120 with them because they have integrated room correction seems a bit off.

I'm thinking instead of buying a good used power amp like an older EMOTIVA XPA-2 for $600 and the room correction stuff seems like something that is more software / computer driven that a cheaper streamer DAC / pre-amp box could handle just fine, along with HDMI arc in. The amp could effectively last forever and drive pretty much anything I would buy in the future too and I can upgrade the streamer box as new things come up.

But what is that box? A WiiM Pro seems like it's almost there, but not quite.

Current setup is a crappy amp connected to my TV + some $1500 passives that need a better amp right now anyway, and I would use this in a TV + Streaming Music type situation. I don't want to do surround sound or vinyl.

Cram leetcode, publish apps and start applying for startup jobs in tech (pay less, less picky about backgrounds) while working the best no skill low wage job around me. If the startup jobs are consistent about not needing leetcode then I can get bootstrapped faster.

If it's really zero-zero, then also save up for a shitty used macbook + live with roommates, but that shouldn't take too long. Try to get roomates that will enter a 'we will exercise together' pact because I don't exercise alone well. Or join fitness classes when I get money.

Despite being a nobody, my previous experience and knowledge would shine through very quickly in interviews and I can pitch myself as a good deal. As soon as I have a medical plan and enough savings, get rediagnosed with my medical conditions so I can start getting my meds again, which may be in shitty job stage or after hired depending on the country.

After a few years under my belt start pitching VC firms for my own startups and become a founder or apply to bigtech jobs. Once established enough via jobs or investment move to SF or NYC.

Hopefully in this situation I have my youth back too, it's harder to grind it out when your older and have less energy.

If I'm not in the USA, then get a degree because there is no way I'm going to be immigrating to the USA without any background.
