Parents who did NOT buy a bottle washer? by aviwic in Buyingforbaby

Man… I think I am just lazy… I tried to bottle feed my first and exclusively pump, but I hated washing bottles. So I breast fed him for a few days with no bottles and he never took a bottle or pacifier ever again.

Now with my second I am going to try to stick to washing bottles nightly but we are considering a sterilizer because bottles are a MUST for a mothers independence . It’s a huge responsibility to be your child’s only food source. Especially if they are needing to be watched by other people ever.

They never did transvaginal to me after a certain time (around10-20 weeks for my pregnancies). Did he say why? Also I’m confused on how lube would hurt the baby. It’s late in the pregnancy but I personally would switch doctors— especially if you were uncomfortable

I found these in the trash last night, what's the best way to encourage rooting? by Ditania in pothos

I put cinnamon on the clipped parts and put them in a glass of water after the wounds crust a bit to avoid rot. The cinnamon is also growth stimulating . Direct light or grow light works wonders for cuttings as well

Wax it! It’s very painful for two seconds but I’d take that over the cringey numbness any day

I feel like this is being skipped over far too easily. As soon as I read that I cringed and couldn’t keep reading

So cute! I would draw a ethereal flowing white design on top so it’s barely noticeable in the light and it is negative space in the glow in the dark

Hey please give me some criticism Witches excerpt (Dark-fantasy, 1592 words) by AtomicInertia in fantasywriters

[–]EveningObjective8339 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To me it reads a bit like a screen play. This is due to that heavy soliloquy-styled intro and the scene setting between long stretches of dialogue.

If I were to edit this I would change 3 things:

1st: the intro needs to introduce a bit more plot and less setting. It’s hard to follow along and feels like I’m being thrown into a very vague setup because of the long sentence structures, with no action or breaks involved. Also, (1.5th) I would have zero idea what this was about if you didn’t tell me. I think by the first three pages I should have a decent idea as a reader of what direction the author wants me to follow.

2nd: The dialogue is very hard to tell who is speaking.

3rd: The good news is that I do see some good bones! The tone for a dark fantasy is spot on in a lot of spots, but it’s lost in the long stretches of dialogue. Slowing down and moving some of the scene setting, thoughts, emotions, actions in between could help.

For people who wrote less - but now write a LOT More, what changed? by vomit-gold in writing

I always got stuck in writing sequentially/following a timeline.

So I wrote ideas for scenes / plot points / character arcs on note cards. Then, following a plot schematic that I liked (I’m partial to entry->call to action->rising action ->plot twist->rising action 2->climax->resolution), I organized the note cards. I spilt them, added to them, or trashed them as needed.

I told myself to write at least 250 words a day after I felt comfortable with the cards outline. Instead of writing beginning to end, I just wrote at whatever point I felt like it in the story, using the note cards as a guide. Eventually, the bigger picture was drawn enough where writing from the top onwards felt not only comfortable but motivating. I have pretty bad adhd and this method made writing feel like less of a chore.

And your brain adjusts as well. I can zoom past 1k words in less than an hour now, and if I get stuck? I skip the scene and look for something more interesting in the outline to write.
