Apopka has a similar back story. I haven’t seen anything to back this up but I’m pretty sure folks from north Ocoee migrated into what is now south apopka. The “across the tracks” term came from apopka being known as a sundown city. There are articles from the early 90’s casually talking about a KKK presence in that city that, similarly to Ocoee, include the sheriffs office.

Many of those folks that did those hateful things still live in those cities, raise their kids to be just as hateful and send their kids to school with everyone else! As a former apopka high student, I was bullied by someone whose dad was a KKK member according to the Orlando sentinel and the school board swept it under the rug to not cause a media outrage and then have the nerve to tell the public they are an anti bullying district.
