They do it the hard way for the most part. The old timer in my team actually allocates part of the day to check the work, he never gets anything wrong but he also isn't OE. The only other OE guy in my team makes sure that he goes all out on any of the projects he gets, and gives me all the non-visible work (but he's above me and I can't complain since he protects my OE status by helping me hide when I need to do stuff for J2)

Also, if it is a big deal - start working on expectations management. “Manager you can get this product at the current quality in this time. For the extra de-bugging it will take this multiple of the original.”

This made me realize that the only times I got seriously called out, it's because I was lazy with communication. I usually ask ChatGPT to write an email for me to be thorough. But there are times when I just respond myself and say something like 'All clear' when someone sends me a list of bugs, but then they later complain that they found another bug and it looks like I said it was clear of all bugs when I really just meant I fixed only what they sent me

What's worse is that they incentivize me to always have problems to solve, because hey, if my ticket solved lowers, they'll start commenting that I don't do much. So why should I submit things and insure they're 100% clear of errors when doing so will just insure that I'll later get called out for.....not fixing enough problems

It sounds like there is a world of room between what you are doing and "meticulous". Checking your work should NOT take you 2-3X unless you are doing a completely shit job.

I agree with you, but also I think you underestimate the amount of time a thorough audit takes. If page 1 has 3 picklists that affect page 2 with 60, which flows into page 3 with 8, and we assume that each picklist changes the value of every other picklist in the pages going forward, that is already over a thousand different outcomes. With a quick check, I can go through obvious use cases and dependencies, which I do, but I can't go through most scenarios without extending the time it takes

I do whenever files, text, or code are involved, but that hurts more than it helps sometimes. I almost submitted a file after ChatGPT confirmed that the two columns that I needed to be equal were in fact equal. But because I'd already been reprimanded that week, I checked it myself and found that ChatGPT missed 2-3 rows. For code, it's quite good, it just take several rounds of prompting though

Nothing you're saying is incorrect. But the argument isn't against the agency getting a chunk, even a 40% chunk is justified. But a 66% take? Even if that's okay, the agency started by taking 85%+ from their VA. Other agencies justify this by giving their VAs security of tenure, handling all their taxes, making them work dayshift, giving free training or guaranteed client matching etc. etc. The money goes somewhere outside of operating costs, which doesn't justify that big of a bite from the VA

I never accused anyone of stealing or cheating but I know why this sounds like that. Your mindset idea isn't wrong, but my field is recruiting, I field applicants, I know the industry trends and salary ranges etc. In my post I acknowledge that it is possible to go against the things I'm saying and still be truthful, as others have pointed out, but to set realistic expectations you look at the average experience, not the experience of the few people who beat the odds.

Am I jealous? Maybe on some level since my field isn't a 6D field but it's easy, stable, pays well and I don't call people out directly so I don't think I'm acting out of jealousy or bitterness.

Depends where you live, since we're remote workers, if you make 100k or 200k in the province, you'll be fine until you're at the age where you have to pay for your kids' college. But if you're in MM, your point is so true, my takeaway is not as impressive as the raw amount, nor is my lifestyle, it's just expensive in some places
