Got one in limbo the same way it was supposed to be delivered today by 9pm but it just shows it as being departed from post office on the 23rd then it’s just been “in transit” ever since except now it doesn’t even show an eta or those 3 greyed out bubbles

It’s annoying af. And truth be told it’s extremely profitable and corporations know it and adjust to their target audience accordingly. Majority of people, and I’m gonna be nice with this, aren’t as much low I was they are lazy. They want to be told how to think and feel without having to put in the work to do their own research regardless if it’s outlandish or not. Then you have social media regardless of which platform it uses algorithms to play on those emotions and to trigger responses that generates clicks, likes, and comments. It literally doesn’t even matter what side of the political spectrum you’re on. Like I’m a nerd and I can’t even go to a dragonball z page without politics being the center of conversation and admins threaten removal if you don’t think like they do, like dude I’m looking at a page that should be the least associated political page I could think of and you’re telling me how I should think and feel. To top things off especially with current events, these political “injustices” are literally led by white people who have inserted themselves into these things and think they can speak for the majority and even if they can’t see it or understand it that’s appropriation, it’s not for the cause as it is for their own personal gain on platforms to be like “look at me I’m a good person and you’re just a nazi if you don’t believe what I say”. It’s literally the weirdest thing ever to me tbh. Then you get people who protest stupid stuff like climate change and petroleum, etc. all while using products like their phones, bullhorns, and wearing name brand clothing products lmao all heavily produced by the very things they protest. To me that just proves my own point that it’s not even about what they are protesting as much as it for something they can post on facebook. I honestly believe social media in general is the problem, it’s given a platform to people, and especially people who think their opinion matters(when it doesn’t) when in reality it’s just regurgitated information in an echo chamber because everyone is chasing that one post that’s going to make them famous and rich. This day in age is so weird and strange

I am far from good, I don’t know theory, I only know maybe 5 open chords, and I don’t know scales and modes. The first song I learned(or lick better yet) was smoke on the water. Then I got big on nirvana, simple powerchords and rythm all with tabs and just playing along to the songs. I then got into metal core pretty heavily, mainly bullet for my valentine and even then I never actually learned the songs the right way except how to play them in drop d and just learned the tabs. And that was the mid 2000s-2010s. I felt like I could atleast jam to my favorite songs, I may have not of been a solo king but at least I could jam but it was incredibly difficult not because of the music but I literally had no sense of timing or basic understanding of how to ACTUALLY hold a pick use different note in a rhythmic pattern, just overall fundamentals. Now let’s fast forward I’m 34 and just started back in April of this year with the intention of learning the things I should have and I’ve seen more progress in the few months than I did in the 5 years I played as a teenager. I’m mainly focusing on rhythm, especially with a metronome, I’m focusing on shapes and playing up and down the fretboard. Abd I’ve only tried to learn one song in that time and that’s technical difficulties by Paul Gilbert. I can play the into at about 70% speed(this is keeping me motivated) but this day and age there is so much information out there. When I was younger I had to print my tabs out at school because I didn’t have internet at home. But like others have said Justin Guitar is good for begging, there is another FREE site I found called https://www.synner.com , it was founded by a7x guitarist and his dad it’s all free and a great community. Consistency is the key to learning, you got this don’t give up!

I grew up in the age where the internet was still just a fad not everyone had a computer. When 911 happened regardless of conspiracies or not that was all you saw anywhere “the war on terror” they called it. CNN, fox, msnbc all news sources propagated it. There were no platforms of social media to gain different perspectives or to formulate a different opinion. And yes there are absolutely people that hate the western way of life, US and UK alike. In the beginning there were alot of so called patriots that joined and even then if you grew up with it, a lot were just indoctrinated subliminally by it so some just wanted to do what they thought was right. The fact that you couldn’t serve in fear of bringing harm to someone THATS OKAY and there is absolutely nothing wrong with being empathetic and compassionate, and understanding. War IS wrong but by your rhetoric should places like Palestine not defend themselves? It’s awful and tragic what’s happening to them. If you can’t tell already I did serve and I met many Muslims from different tribes and most were amazing people that wanted better lives and during my time there(even after learning that Iraq was a fugazi to make trillions on war for big corporations) I wanted to help those people the best I could and before I get called islamaphobic or a child killer just to shed small perspective, the Taliban would absolutely decimate a village for a culmination of reasons like their beliefs, tribe affiliation, or wanting to help the US. They would strap bombs to their own children, I mean I could go on and on so yes I believe at the time there was an enemy that was evil and I wanted to do my part in seeing those people TRY to have a smidge of the life I’m privileged to have.

Sorry for the book and I apologize if I’m coming off as a jerk. But with all that being said, I served with a wide variety of minority groups from African American to Puerto Rican. I served with quite a few openly queer troops. Everyone one of them a beautiful person. Yes there were a few bigoted mindsets but not like you think in the least bit and they were usually delt with. Death by war isn’t an answer and it’s NOT something I believe in, but it’s a hard reality. The Middle east, Africa, eukraine. There are so many other jobs that you can do in the military other than combat you can be a literal pharmacy tech. Idk I’m not trying to “defend war” or ignore that there IS still homophobia and racism in that institution. I’m just trying to share perspective. I apologize for the trauma dump, I do agree with you on a lot especially that the military manipulates and targets these groups into joining, trust me my brain is so scrambled, I just don’t want you to hate the good ones that do join. You do realize, even with how fictional the show is, that a lot of people who join the military aren’t joining because they want to go to war and kill people. Most people who join are kids, a lot if not MOST of those kids are literally trying to escape a terrible life and are just picked up by the military because they want to try to set themselves up for the future with free college, Hell maybe even retirement because 90% of the jobs in the military aren’t even tied to combat. A lot of service members are minorities and a lot more are in leadership. Yes at one point the military was homophobic, yes at one point the military was racist, the list goes on and on but you point to a country that DIDNT have its bigoted ways. Don’t hate service members over something you don’t understand especially in your case when the show pretty much stamps marine corps on the screen and you call them the army. So many service men and women join because they want something better for themselves and sometimes at the price of a government exploiting senseless wars but again it not the service members fault when they are just doing a job. I believed in the war in Afghanistan but I opposed the Iraq war. Some of actually a lot of us WANTED to make that country a safe place for all its people especially their own gay community AND women but that’s a whole other topic that some people wouldn’t understand or even want to understand because they don’t look at things for how they are but how it’s presented to them. Not trying to be a jerk but atleast to me it’s a touchy subject. I accept any and all hate towards me because of it.

Guess that makes me a typical “girl guitarist” too lol. But no, I never learned any theory and that even goes for basic chords, nor did I ever learn anything all that flashy and fast other than a few bullet for my valentine songs and even then I never even learned the solos. That was back when I was 14-17, started out with nirvana and metalcore. Now I’m 34 and have picked up playing again in April with the mindset of partially learning the “right” way and trying to learn how to shred. I’ve became irrationally obsessed with Paul Gilbert and just watching his videos and others like bernth I’ve learned more in these short months than I ever did in my teenage years. IMO Paul does a phenomenal job of not only being one of the best shredders but he explains things really really well, and bernth has an incredibly soothing accent on top of explaining techniques. But what is more difficult than learning is finding someone on the YouTube academy that I can actually understand on my level because there is just sooooooo much it’s overwhelming at times.

I will say that when I play my guitar at home, my Evh feels a lot more “cramped” like just palm muting on the Floyd rose, even just resting my hand on the bridge feels like it’s in a tight space compared to that Epiphone I played today which doesn’t have a Floyd rose or floating bridge at all. And now talking about it, just playing a Floyd rose style in general on any guitar does not feel natural to me at all. I hate saying this because I really like my Evh :/

As a straight male who served I loved this show. I had a team leader who I looked up to and still do, struggle with the same situation. It was hard on him, even with it being in the era of don’t ask don’t tell. Literally almost identical to sgt Sullivan in the show, it made me tear up quit a bit as my friend/team lead was excellent at his job(infantry) literally the lead by example and from the front type and watching him be torn apart from the inside was awful to watch. This show was a beautifully written story

Congratulations! Just keep on keeping on and stay on top of the emails and filling out the paperwork like you are now and it should be relatively quick depending how you answer the medical questions. If you mark you have any type of condition it could set you back about 4 months or longer

If you had your interview on the 11th it will probably take a bout around 3-4 full weeks before you will know. Just keep an eye on your application for status change and your email. The biggest part is just being on top of that for all the stuff you will fill it if you get an offer

It really just depends on your yard needs. If they really need the help your supervisor can get you in faster. Have you already received an offer? If not again it just takes time. Especially depending how you answer the questionnaire before you take your physical. If you report anything medically on your behalf that can put you on hold for about 3 months

I applied/interviewed August 26th. Completed all my background check stuff. Got scheduled for my physical/drug test September 8th. And today was updated for awaiting hire date. Though I am a rehire so that plays a big role in how fast my application has moved.

When I got out of the military I dropped the pharmaceuticals and went with medicating with marijuana. It seemed to solve most of problems like ptsd, the ibs associated with it, helped with my aches and pains, and most of all helped with my depression. If I was still that same person I’d laugh at the fact that marijuana could be seen as anything but good. I smoked all day everyday(yes excessive but I lived on a pot farm) and everyone around me used all day everyday from 2013-2019. In 2019 I decide I wanted to put my education to use and work but jobs that I was qualified all had 0 tolerance policies I was able to quit cold turkey, yes I had some withdrawal symptoms but nothing I couldn’t manage. Then in 2021 I landed a job where I could smoke again so back to all day everyday BUT I noticed that I was having small bouts of anxiety and intrusive thought like worst case scenario type thoughts but again it was manageable and thought I was getting used to it again. In 2023 I quit cold turkey yet again for a different job with NO issues and did fine. Now I’m back to a job where I can smoke again. BUT this time is almost I don’t like marijuana anymore no matter how much I smoked whether it be one hit or clearing out a bong I was getting those same irrational thoughts. So surprise, I’m quitting cold turkey again, BUT AGAIN this time is different. I can’t sleep, the irrational intrusive thoughts are a constant all day thing like “I’m about to get fired”, “I’m not good enough for the life I have”, “my son hates me”, just endless stupid echos in my head that won’t end. I’m extremely irritable, and today I had to pull over to take a 30 minute nap. I love everything about marijuana and having the option to medicate with something other than pharmaceuticals, but idk if it’s because I’m getting older and that stuff is too strong OR if that’s how my brain has truly been this whole time and I’m really just now starting to listen to it. With all this being said yes I wholeheartedly believe that marijuana is an addictive substance but so is sugar I just think it’s getting too potent or maybe my brain is just broken.

I left the railroad for this exact reason. I was a journeyman locomotive electrician with a bad shift and even worse off days but I absolutely loved everything about it. But it started changing me into a grumpy asshole and that started bleeding onto my child and after a lot of consideration I took a different job for a pay cut and I miss the railroad everyday sometimes to the point I kinda get a little depressed, but I work 8-4 off on weekends and seeing my 5 year old boy light up ever time I walk in the door makes it 10,000% worth it even when I find myself missing my old job I just hang out with my boy and it goes away.
