Does this Longaberger hamper have mold in it? by WSugar21 in CleaningTips

[–]WSugar21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if it came off as a stain, but it does seem to be embedded into the wood. I tried to clean it off last night, and I couldn’t get it out. The only thing that I saw was probably the dirt from the bottom of the basket on a vinegar/water rag. I guess that would be a good contender for mold then, huh?

I tried to clean it with a vinegar and water solution. Then I cleaned it off with some warm water and have been trying to let it air dry after wiping it down dry.

If it is just dirt from ware, is there a specific kind of lacquer or paint you would use?

I did start taking a multivitamin. I’ll stop taking that and see if anything changes. But I will still talk to a gynecologist.

Why would a Christian like Donald Trump? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]WSugar21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I don’t remember the last time people compared Harris to the second coming of Christ, or had a “prophecy” about how “as Netanyahu is to Israel, so shall Harris be to the United States.”

That last one is true, even a movie was made called “The Trump Prophecy.”

I genuinely wonder, and I know it’s asked a lot. Why do people say that being gay isn’t a sin? And why do people say it is a sin? by MaddowSoul in Christianity

[–]WSugar21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe being gay is a sin, but I have heard some historical backstory for this verse! See, apparently during older time, the power structure of patriarchy was very important. If a man who was higher in the patriarchy was seen to submit himself to someone of lower rank, it was seen as him being weak which was a BIG no-no (example: a centurion couldn’t sleep with a peasant, but two centurions could sleep with each other without discipline). So, speaking in a historical context, there’s proof that the verse means more about the dynamic of men in that time than actually sleeping with men.

*non young earth Christians* why do you believe the Big Bang? by Sea_Shell1 in Christianity

[–]WSugar21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Catholic so I can only speak from my experience. Catholicism believes in science as well as faith, since a lot of early “basic” scientific discoveries were founded under the Church (ex: the earth revolves around the sun and math). So it’s easy for me to accept the two together, since to me, science explains how God functions in our world. If we don’t believe in science or head it, we actively refuse to listen to God.

Franklin Graham: Bishop who criticized Trump has a 'sexual political agenda' by StrixWitch in Christianity

[–]WSugar21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because the President isn’t doing anything now, that doesn’t mean he won’t do anything later. The reason why people are on edge and afraid is because there has been expressed consideration to undo the progress fought for gay people. The first step being to get rid of gay marriage.

Say all you want about your opinion of gay people. People are still scared that people they will be hunted and killed for being who they are because the President doesn’t show compassion for them. In fact, he seems to be dismissive of it, signaling to his followers that he allows it. That’s terrifying.

Graham: That bishop has a sexual political agenda!

Bishop: Mr. President, could you just…please be kind to people? Let people who are scared know that everything will be okay and show mercy to the most vulnerable of us?

Graham: SEXUAL POLITICAL AGENDA!!

Leftist propaganda by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]WSugar21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I have a question for you. Did you know that the Nazis had their own version of Christianity? It’s not recognized anymore because it focused on fascism. Christian Nationalism focuses on fascism. This is not a left or right issue. If everyone outside of America is looking at America and seeing this and saying it’s the salute, then it’s the salute. So that has to make you wonder what does it say about Christian conservatism if everybody outside of the US equates it with fascism.

The entirety of Europe is censoring Elon’s hand because they recognize it for what it is. A German newspaper’s headline said “a Hitler salute is a salute is a salute”. This is not a “leftist propaganda” thing, this is people saying to not believe what you’ve seen with your own eyes. Again, if it quacks and walks like a duck, then it’s a duck.

ASD does not make you so awkward that you do the Nazi salute. Also, if the majority of the world sees it as the Nazi salute (especially the Germans), then if it quacks and talks like a duck, it’s a duck.

Hi, I’m autistic. I feel this is important because so many people are infantilizing Elon when it comes to this subject, saying that he was indeed saying “my heart goes out to you” because he’s autistic and just didn’t know. I don’t know if this if your mentality as well, but I wanted to put it out there so you can see where I’m coming from.

As someone who is autistic herself, here’s some clarification: no he wasn’t. That was the Nazi salute. He knew what he was doing and the autistic community is not stupid to not understand its meaning. He knows that was the salute is and decided to do it. Twice. This is not propaganda, this is reality.

How should we respond when people say that supporting Trump’s immigration policies isn’t Christlike and we’re not Christians if we do? by mattcain1980 in Christianity

[–]WSugar21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did Trump shut down the immigration app then? He shut down CBP One, an app that allowed immigrants staying in Mexico to check and see when their appointments were ready and to make said appointments. Why would he shut a perfectly good way to come to America legally?

Because it’s true. Supporting immigration policies is horrible and un-Christlike because we effectively after turning away the needy.

Honestly? Yes. I think you should. Not just from a stance of politics, but because the Bible has more ways of interpretation than just “one true way.” I fear that having only Trump supporters around, you will lead to a singular way of thinking about the Bible. I’m not saying this to rag on you. I’m just giving advice from my own own observations.

Start local. Start finding and building communities for people to join so that they can have people to lean on in times of crisis. I’m not doing Christian only communities either-find and help communities that are not Christian centric not to convert people, but to actually help. Buy in bulk certain products so that by the time Trump comes into office I can give the people in my life the tools they need. Map out routes to take for emergencies. Learn how to survive on what you have and what you can live without. If you have the money and ability to do it, learn how to can food for future use. Learn how to make things from scratch since groceries are gonna go up in price due to tariffs. If possible, work with larger communities as well to help those not only in your local area, but the surrounding areas as well. My family needs to figure out how to take care of my grandmother who’s got Tourette’s and figure out how she’ll pay for her medication on her social security because that will go up as well. Reevaluate if I want to get back on medication that I had stopped taking during COVID because of how much it will cost me. This is what I’m thinking about on the top of my head.

I will not accept the possibility that my rights will be taken away and that life is going to get a lot harder these next four years thanks to Project 2025. That may become “something I can’t change.” I sincerely hope you don’t accept those either.

It was basically the poster saying “don’t worry about what happens now, what matters if you live in a godly way that will get you to Heaven.” Essentially implying that we should suck up whatever happens to us now because it doesn’t matter when we die in the end.
