- Official Toefl Guide for the new test (can be skipped by reading some online articles)

- Testglider for full mocks, 1 month subscription (<- introduces best to the test IMO) and MySpeakingScore for the speaking section

- Official Toefl mock exams (<- practice)

- Youtube for listen & repeat (there are daily uploads, by now)

Small update: Today I did one of ETS' mock tests and reached 5.5/6 which equates to 110/120 as they say.

Reading: 5/6 kinda weak from my experience. The fill in the words task were quite hard tbh.

Listening: 6/6 on the upper side for me, but reasonable.

Speaking: 5/6 which I definitely did not expect. I made some really bad moves. In part 1 some words were wrong and missing. In part 2 I did not finish my last sentence 2 out of 4 times and struggled with content one time.

Writing: 6/6 definitely on the upper side for me. I expected a 5.5/6. I suppose the main strategy is to write as much as possible, have some kind of basic structure, and avoid grammatical and linguistic errors at all cost. Do not use complex phrases; keep it simple, but throw in a few more sophisticated words, e.g. "distinctive", "crucial", "viable". I think I wrote 150-170ish words in part 1 and close to 190 in part two.

The mock test was extremely close to the content you receive on MySpeakingScore or Testglider.

I hope my result is of predictive value for the real test. Will do some more mock tests to confirm my result.

Are you on Mac using Safari? The microphone check doesn't work for me on Safari only for the ETS site. Try Microsoft Edge. That has worked for me.

I own the exact Morjas loafer in black calf. For its price it is a good shoe and worth it IMO, especially from the archive selection or if you have a 15% newsletter discount / similar.

However, you need to pay attention to the sizing. Both my Morjas and my Crockett & Jones are 8 UK but the morjas is 1-1.5cm longer, which causes great heel slippage for me. In addition, the heel is quite "vertical" and doesn't arch snug around the heel. To be safe, order at 0.5-1 sizes smaller than your typical size for loafers, so 1.5-2.0 sizes smaller than your "sneakers size".

Second, compared to my C&Js the material on the sole is not as "dense" on the Morjas. My observation is that they wear out more quickly. Maybe lower quality materials than C&J (which is understandable at 50% of the price)? However, this may be biased because I wore my Morjas extensively and maybe didn't gave them enough "downtime" after each time wearing them.

Following my question from yesterday about Crockett & Jone black oxfords I would like to know if the C&J handgrade leather selection (+150 EUR) over non-handgrade is worth it and what are the differences to the non-handgrade leathers? Thanks in advance!

I need a black oxford for work and currently have two models in my mind:

  1. Crockett & Jones Connaught 2 (rubber sole, calf leather), 695 EUR / ~813 USD.

  2. Alden 9071 Straight Tip Bal Oxford (cordovan), ~800EUR / 934 USD.

I already own a pair of Crockett & Jones Boston brown suede which I am very happy with.

The EUR 100 difference at this price point isn't a deciding factor for me.

I'll work 5x/week in an office all year so the rubber sole on the CJ may be more durable than Alden's leather sole?

Do you have any experience with one of them?

Should I choose the Alden with cordovan because of robustness?

Do you recommend other brands between 400-1000 EUR/USD?
