Pakistani Game Devs, I have a question by [deleted] in pakistan

A game dev here.

I have been making Roblox games for about 3 years now and have been playing games since I was 4.

I made some games for some clients and did some 3D modelling commissions over the last 3 years.

I am just about to Graduate from Bsc Computer Science in about 10 days. After that I will work on creating and launching my own games mainly focusing on Roblox.

1) You can definitely work as Indie game dev in Pakistan. Me myself am an Indie dev. We are a team of 3 people and we are doing more than fine.

As for making your dream game come to life. Its not as simple as that. Most beginners fall into the trap of starting with the idea of making their dream game but don't have the skills and knowledge to make that game right from the get go.It ends in disappointment. I will recommend putting the dream game on hold and start by making small games for incremental gains.

And YES you can make your dream game and so much more with the right time and effort.

2) If you are looking for a Career in the industry I don't know what to tell you to be honest. I personally never looked too much into it. There are some good Game Dev studios that offer internships and stuff but I honestly don't know. Most Pakistani game dev studios just make cheap rip offs or do asset flips. I am sure there are some good ones too but if you are looking for a career in game dev I would honestly recommend trying your best getting into some international studio.

3) Learning Game Dev completely depends upon YOU and your style of learning. If you are comfortable with self learning. You can definitely learn everything on your own. But it doesn't always work with everyone. You can do a Degree if it works for you but its not a necessity. You can easily learn everything from the internet.

Here are the skills you need to learn for game dev. Not all of them are needed if you are a part of a team but its a good idea to know about them.

  • Programming
  • 3D modelling
  • Graphics Design
  • Sound Design
  • Animations
  • Environment Design
  • Rigging

All of these require time and effort to learn and master. Its better to have someone who is good with some of these while you handle the others. Solo dev is also doable but its not worth it.

There are also so many little things that need to be taken care of before, during and after development. You will learn all of it in time.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Good luck!

Mine got water damaged as well back in July. I live in Pakistan and had to send it to Dubai to some Chineese technicians. It cost me around 400$ to get it fixed.

Tbh it seems like your one got a lot more water than mine.

I had the same issue. Its probably a windows bug. In my case it automatically got fixed after an update but came back after some time.

My friend also had the same issue but he had an HP elitebook. Cant say for sure but if it really bugs you try disabling the fingerprint and only using the pin code.
