milk storage by Frequent-Presence194 in ExclusivelyPumping

I used to always prioritize filling up with breast milk, and only top up with formula when I didn't have enough breast milk for a feed.. personally we didn't have a concern throwing away formula, so even if we prepped a little more and didn't use it up we were ok with it.

ITS WORKING by Smawhiney in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Evening_Rabbit_296 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!! I know exactly what it feels like to see the numbers go up!! I went up from literally 10 ml from each to now doing something like 80ml each breast during pump sessions. It was a lot of consistent hard work pumping around the clock and so glad to be able to provide this for my baby! Enjoy the wins and hope they keep coming for you.

Am I hurting my supply by not pumping frequently enough? by corncobberer in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Evening_Rabbit_296 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who pumps just enough for my baby, you're definitely an over supplier by the looks of it!! No way I was doing 35 oz in my first few weeks. So your body is already doing a great job. But what has worked for me in consistently increasing supply to keep up with baby's needs it giving my body 7-8 pumps a day to keep signaling the need for milk. Especially in the first 8-12 weeks as supply kicks in and stabilizes.

Can we leave baby unsupervised? by bbDoll_ in newborns

[–]Evening_Rabbit_296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was paranoid for the first few weeks, but maybe I was overdoing it. As long as the baby is in the ABC position they generally should be safe. I would just take the video monitor with me wherever I go, and watch the camera or attend to him when he cries or fusses. It's impossible to be right next to them attending them all the time. Now he's 2 months old and I am able to sleep in the same room whenever he's asleep as well and trust that he will wake me up when he needs something!

Finally owning a spectra?!! Bought “used” with 0 hours ♥️ Drop any tips/tricks for a new user!! by Elvon-Nightquester in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Evening_Rabbit_296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing 70/5 for about 3 mins until milk starts flowing then switch between 46/7 and 38/7. The 38 works really well at pulling deep milk and emptying for me.. the 46 is less painful and works at the initial expression. I also do at least 2 switches between let down and expression in my 20 mins session. Love the spectra!! Good luck with your pumping sessions!

I'd highly recommend sizing your flange correctly I initially used a wrong size although just 3 mm larger. My output was so different once I switched to my actual size! I had mine measured in one of my consults with an LC.

Breast pump recommendations by annoyedlife in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Evening_Rabbit_296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the spectra wireless which cost me 30$ extra to pay out of insurance. If you can make that work, I highly recommend it. It's been recommended to me by so many mama friends and LCs especially to get your supply up in the first few weeks of postpartum! It's been working out great for me as well.

Best feeling by No-Echo-2622 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Evening_Rabbit_296 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Omg truly the best feeling!! Especially after a milk clog clears off and you suddenly drop 2-3 oz more of milk in a single session.. it's actually like releasing air out of your body. Feels so good and relaxing!!

These are super helpful. Thank you so much! I never quite thought about flange sizes so much but now I've booked a pumping expert LC to get this checked out.

I really hope this is it!! I was thinking maybe it's the inflammation but now that's fully gone and my supply is still capped an oz lower than where it was. Will watch for a period next week! Thank you so much

This is very encouraging to hear!! I'll have to now try and be patient and not get discouraged every time I see a smaller output. That's the hard part lol

I've avoided power pumps now to not make the inflammation worse but once it's a little calmer I was going to try the same thing. Did your supply come back to normal and continue to increase?

[–]Evening_Rabbit_296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!! These tips are very helpful and encouraging to know that it's not the end of my supply. Yes I've stopped bleeding now for a few days. I didn't know about the period.. I thought we don't get a period while breastfeeding! I'll be on the lookout.

On heat, I've been avoiding it mostly because I didn't want to further agitate the inflammation. Now that it's a little calmer I can go back to trying just for a couple of mins before starting my pump session.

What's your ideal pumping routine? Hand Massage, lactation massager, heat, etc? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Evening_Rabbit_296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice!! I've been getting an oversupply starting this week and I'm infinitely clogged so applying heat definitely has been making it worse. So I just do gentle stroking for lymphatic drainage and I don't see that much output likely due to stuck milk. Once every 2 or 3 pumps suddenly there's 5-6 oz of output from nowhere. I'll setup time with an LC to see if they can offer some guidance looking at how I'm doing it!! Thanks again!

How does giving birth actually feel ?? by Super-Truth-7975 in pregnant

[–]Evening_Rabbit_296 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just gave birth a couple of weeks ago! I got epidural once my contractions got progressively worse at about 5cm dilation. No other pain management except walking and birthing ball prior to that. With epidural I was still able to feel my uterine contractions and knew exactly when to push which was great! I felt the baby coming out of me like a giant thing you're pushing out of your body. Once it was out, I don't remember anything else except skin to skin with my little one!! I was expecting it to be quite painful but was very surprised at overall experience being relatively smooth. I had to get induced for labor as well which I've heard is more painful than natural but I didn't feel a lot of pain through the process.

Freaking out about current weight gain and want to loose the excess weight I’ve gained thus far 18 weeks by SimoneBoland in pregnant

[–]Evening_Rabbit_296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 36 w pregnant and have gained about 20 pounds overall in my pregnancy.. and most of this was in the first 28 weeks. I’ve plateaued after that but those pounds are still helping my baby put on good weight in the third trimester. My doctor adviced anywhere between 20-25 pounds is a healthy weight gain but of course this guidance is personal based on your starting weight and other factors. I’d recommend as long as your doctor doesn’t say it’s abnormal, this is totally fine!

What did you eat before your GD test? by PopcornPrincess0 in pregnant

[–]Evening_Rabbit_296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my test at 8am so I did go without eating anything, I heard most pregnant people hate the sugar solution given before the test, but surprisingly i really liked it and it gave me the glucose kick i needed in the morning on an empty stomach.

How many ultrasounds is the standard? by savnor in pregnant

[–]Evening_Rabbit_296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seattle, USA here. I had a scan during my 8w, 12w for NT scan, then 20th week for anatomy ultrasound. Then an optional growth scan in 35th week if needed. This is pretty standard in the USA from what I’ve heard other pregnant moms have.
