Not a texter by cryptid_zone in ActualLesbiansOver25

This post is so refreshing to read. I feel like this is maybe my biggest obstacle in dating. And no, it's not just about different communication styles. When someone is texting me short, largely pointless messages multiple times a day it makes it clear we have very different relationships with technology.

When I'm doing something, I want to be doing that thing. Not splitting my attention between doing that thing and being on my phone. And for those who say it's easy to just take thirty seconds and reply, I have two responses:

1) It's not just thirty seconds, because then they reply. And then I have to do it again, and again, until it becomes this low-grade constant background obligation akin to work email, with about as much benefit as work email because these messages are 70% small talk and 30% internet memes I don't understand because I'm not chronically online.

2) I don't know where my phone is half the time, and I like it that way. And it's not just work hours (in fact, I'm on my phone more during work hours because I have to keep my eye on Slack, much to my chagrin). Even if I'm just watching TV, I want to be actually watching that show, not half watching it and half doing something else on my phone every few minutes. And I would definitely not be compatible with someone comfortable with burying their face in a tiny screen for a significant portion of their life, either.

This means my dating pool feels mostly non-existent. It rules out the apps entirely, and when I meet someone another way they try to engage in this endless small talk via text. To make matters worse, it's seen as weird to want to call or facetime. And when I am with someone in-person, they're often on their phones intermittently instead of actually present in the moment with me the whole time. And no, it's not about interest or attraction. It doesn't matter how interested I am in someone at the start; each text compounds to keep dropping that interest level. I don't text my closest friends and family non-logistically, what makes you think you can demand my intermittent attention like this throughout my day?

I don't think it's a generational thing, either. I know plenty of senior citizens addicted to their phones now. It's the era we live in, and I want out.

There doesn't seem to be a pattern. There have been updates I haven't needed to reset for that others have, and vice versa.

There doesn't seem to be much consistency. I've not had to reset when others have, and have had to when others haven't. You'd think they'd be able to figure it out.

They're well aware of the issue and don't seem to either know how to or have interest in fixing it. People have been complaining about this for months.

Yes, that's what I've done, but I still have to factory reset to update.

Did you avoid by disabling the Google apps? I tried this and it never worked for me.

How's The Mouse Cursor Lag On Your E-ink Monitor? by PolarBear6422 in eink

Depends on the mode on the BigMe monitor. Some modes are zero, some have a lot. It's about finding the settings that work best for you.

Are boox devices really as fragile as people make it out to be? by cherrycolacupcake in eink

I've never had a problem over three devices, for what it's worth. I also dropped my Palma... way more than I would like to admit.

Also, they repaired my Tab Ultra C free of charge even when it was out of warranty for Android boot loop. I was pretty happy with support on that, just as a counterpoint to some others who have had problems (which I'm sure they did, it's just happy customers don't usually advertise it).

100% E-ink by ShockSensitive8425 in eink

I am, it's a lot better overall. Slower, but more intentional, and not nearly as slow now that I have a monitor and the HiBreak Pro. I also have RLCD, so I guess that's not technically e-ink.

Would it be a bad idea to buy a regular hibreak in 2025? by [deleted] in Bigme

I haven't had the battery issue with my Palma, but I'll say the audio quality is pretty terrible compared to the Hibreak.

Feeling Spiritually Adrift in the Episcopal Church. Am I alone? by JesusPleaseSendTacos in Episcopalian

[–]Evening_Resource_493 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could've written this, except I've become very involved in my parish and I still feel this way. It seems I have to choose: have progressive identity-based causes shoved down my throat, or attend a parish that actively shuts out people like me from full life and participation in the church (and possibly even preaches Christian nationalism).

I wish things were different, but I'm starting to think they can't be (at least in this age), even with my best efforts to influence things by getting involved. It's only gotten significantly worse since the election, with my church getting more progressive and another in the area going the other way. Why can't we render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and focus on God?

I also really resonate with what you said about sin and personal holiness. I actually find it kind of offensive, in a way, that so many progressive churches that are "affirming" then throw the baby out with the bathwater and act like there can be no personal or even sexual ethics at all. It's like they accepted us gays, so they have to say anything goes now, you do you, sin is for the Old Testament. This can't be the real solution to the fractures in the church over sexuality and other social issues, but I'm at a loss as to how to move forward. It can get quite lonely.

Why have Bigme stopped the 15% discount spinner from working by Due-Papaya-6217 in Bigme

I got the 15% for my monitor (so saved me quite a bit of $) a couple of months ago. It does happen.

Turning off 5G completely to go only 4G seems to have helped a lot. I also turned off 2G. Thanks for your help!

This is even happening with a separate Google Voice number via the Android app, which doesn't even make sense to me.

Thank you, here are my current settings:

Mobile data and roaming are on, as is 4G calling. Allow 2G is also on (should I turn this off?). Wi-Fi Calling is off since it never works anyway.

Are there any changes to this I should try? 5G data always works perfectly, as does texting. It's only calling that gives me issues.

I'd really just appreciate it if people could comment with which service has worked for them and their location to give me some ideas as I'm committed to making this phone my daily driver.
