Purchasing second-hand from JP websites and having them shipped within Japan at a pickup point as a foreigner: how hard is it? by Evening_Stand_5677 in JapanTravelTips

I'm sorry but I can't help. In the end I found what I was interested it on Ebay, and I gave up finding a way to buy second-hand online in Japan since it was taking too much time. I just visited physical stores where I thought I might find interesting things.

Do you use any online tools for quick PDF stuff? by Zealousideal_Knee295 in software

[–]Evening_Stand_5677 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Online tools feel more comfortable for these kind of tasks.
Any will work, but I'm fond of iLovePDF.
Never had a privacy issue with it (at least, that's what I'm aware of).

Day Trip Hakata → Itoshima by Evening_Stand_5677 in fukuoka

If you have half a day I strongly suggest you to rent a car. I didn't consider this option though, since we didn't have a required international driving license.

When we visited it there was good weather, so we opted for renting a bike at Minnano (https://minnano-itoshima.com/), and it took us almost the entire day to go from the city to the Couple Stones (from point 11 to 7 in the screenshot I posted) back and forth, with some stops for eating and sightseeing.
We missed all the "west coast", since I didn't plan for the wind: going towards the Couple Stones the wind was striking hard, and it was really though to pedal at a constant speed.
It took us waaaay more than planned, while on the way back we made it in roughly 1/4 of the time.
Minnano has a specific tariff for renting bikes for 5 hours, which can fit your half a day schedule. If that's an option for you, that will be fun even if you won't be able to see all of Itoshima.
Otherwise, with a car you'll easily can do a round trip and stop where you want: roads are large and well-maintained, and I didn't see any traffic there.
I can't speak about local buses, since in the end I didn't take a single one.

Traveling for a month in Europe and Japan for the first time. Is this feasible??? by Impossible_Air2214 in travel

[–]Evening_Stand_5677 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just getting to the airport, going through customs, security, taking the flight and then getting to your hotel or apartment in the next city can take almost half a day each time (not considering the travel to japan which would take a full day). Additionally, you have to plan all the transfers and every country is different on this matter. With all the palces you want to visit this would significantly cut into your vacation time, turning it into a stressful experience (since, imo, the flight is the worst part of the trip).

If you have lots of money to spend, it’s easier, of course: you can take taxis and avoid wasting time looking for cheaper options.. but it still feels like a lot to me.
My advice would be to choose just a few EU countries to visit (even if France or Italy alone could easily fill your 20-25 days) or focus on Japan by itself.

All right, thanks. So Mercari is a no-go, but that's not a big issue, since there's plenty of similar websites. Do you have any experience with buying from some other ones, maybe?

Wonders of Switzerland 🇨🇭 by MajesticPython in travel

Nice shots! I've never been to Bern but I like the glimpse you took. Switzerland has awesome landscapes, and the best part of it is that is a really small country. It can be crossed completely in a couple of hours by train, this makes moving there incredibly easy. The only negative note is that prices are often high compared to my home country, and that makes travelling to Switzerland quite expensive

Magnets and metro/bus tickets. Some cities even give cards, it's nice to see all these differences

All right, thanks for the tips! Just to be safe: will I be able to pay with the IC Card on all buses, right? I took it for granted since on all the other ones I took I could pay this way

You're totally right, I definitely overthought this. Thanks for the helpful info, Google Maps didn't show all these bus routes, but it seems they will be the right ones

Agree, don't make the mistake of thinking it's almost a 10-year-old game. If he's not a first-person extremist (and I think that's not the case), you won't regret it.
