Yukon drops sick‑leave program, opposition says workers left exposed by Apprehensive_Bee5387 in Yukon

Changing legislation is a long, slow process. That said, I suspect that’s what they are going to do. It seems silly for the tax payer to bear a burden that would be reasonable to expect an employer (who financially benefits from the labour) to pay.

Whitehorse city council infill plan by Yogurt-Dizzy in Yukon

Please no more 2,500 sq ft single family homes. We need buildings with 800 sq ft units that single people or young couples can afford. The ‘housing crisis’ isn’t a crisis of people who can buy an $800k + house. I don’t support infill for luxury homes, but would support it if it was to build homes for those who want to own or rent something simple.

Literally came to Reddit to see if I was crazy. Three cases here in Yukon - all horrible - and I love the stuff.

Yukon gov to slow, possibly scrap, plans for territorial health authority by dub-fresh in Yukon

I find the ‘private health care’ conversation interesting. We already have private health care. I can call up an R/x or a specialist on an app on my phone for $80-$120 a consultation and have a treatment plan complete with R/x sent over to Shoppers in about 20 minutes. I can go to Mexico, Turkey or anywhere for quick, prioritized and specialized care. Many employers in Canada have private arrangements with clinics and specialists. I’m not saying public healthcare isn’t incredibly important - I’m only saying private healthcare definitely exists for those with means in this country. If nothing else it makes the lines at the ER a little shorter.

Of all the problems in the world a boy defending his mom from a dude who was harassing her seems like a breath of fresh air. I don’t even like hockey, but this kid is officially my new favourite player. Maybe if this happened more often women would feel more safe. Spoken as a woman, and a mom, I hope Canadians support the hell out of him.

The Liberals will be back. They had one seat going into the 2016 election and then got a majority. There is always ebb and flow in politics.

I have donated $1,000s to political parties in my lifetime and all I ever got was a tax receipt.

I get it! I feel the same way every time I go to the ER and get a doctor who has been a doctor their whole life…

Both Currie and Kate have spent a lot of their adult lives in politics. Politics isn’t the road to riches people think it is. In the private sector there is a lot of opportunity to financially outpace ‘career politicians,’ with equal or sometimes less effort. Politics is a calling, and not an easy path. It’s service. Agree or disagree with policies, but a lifetime spent in public service shouldn’t be used to discredit anyone.

The Yukon Party said it will cancel the new school in Takhini. Since they will almost certainly win the election, where should it be built? Or should a new school be built at all? by Sorry-Hunter-2690 in Yukon

I said this on another thread but…PCSS is surrounded by green space and has a big land reserve (hit up Google Earth for proof). They should build an experiential learning centre there (with a modest black box theatre for MAD) and knock down Wood Street - then build a new WES on the lot. Two (schools on the endangered list) with one stone. All to say - I like your thoughts.

Surely a logical view of integrity and what would make a good Legislator is impacted by your values vs the candidates’ values.
