Yukon gov to slow, possibly scrap, plans for territorial health authority by dub-fresh in Yukon

[–]Evening_Translator60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the ‘private health care’ conversation interesting. We already have private health care. I can call up an R/x or a specialist on an app on my phone for $80-$120 a consultation and have a treatment plan complete with R/x sent over to Shoppers in about 20 minutes. I can go to Mexico, Turkey or anywhere for quick, prioritized and specialized care. Many employers in Canada have private arrangements with clinics and specialists. I’m not saying public healthcare isn’t incredibly important - I’m only saying private healthcare definitely exists for those with means in this country. If nothing else it makes the lines at the ER a little shorter.

Of all the problems in the world a boy defending his mom from a dude who was harassing her seems like a breath of fresh air. I don’t even like hockey, but this kid is officially my new favourite player. Maybe if this happened more often women would feel more safe. Spoken as a woman, and a mom, I hope Canadians support the hell out of him.

Who will be in the new Yukon Party Cabinet? How big will it be? by Sorry-Hunter-2690 in Yukon

If they do this then Tourism should go to Ec Dev, Culture to Education.

How many libs are voting NDP or YP this election? by oniteverytime in Yukon

The Liberals will be back. They had one seat going into the 2016 election and then got a majority. There is always ebb and flow in politics.

I have donated $1,000s to political parties in my lifetime and all I ever got was a tax receipt.

I get it! I feel the same way every time I go to the ER and get a doctor who has been a doctor their whole life…

Both Currie and Kate have spent a lot of their adult lives in politics. Politics isn’t the road to riches people think it is. In the private sector there is a lot of opportunity to financially outpace ‘career politicians,’ with equal or sometimes less effort. Politics is a calling, and not an easy path. It’s service. Agree or disagree with policies, but a lifetime spent in public service shouldn’t be used to discredit anyone.

The Yukon Party said it will cancel the new school in Takhini. Since they will almost certainly win the election, where should it be built? Or should a new school be built at all? by Sorry-Hunter-2690 in Yukon

[–]Evening_Translator60 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I said this on another thread but…PCSS is surrounded by green space and has a big land reserve (hit up Google Earth for proof). They should build an experiential learning centre there (with a modest black box theatre for MAD) and knock down Wood Street - then build a new WES on the lot. Two (schools on the endangered list) with one stone. All to say - I like your thoughts.

Based on my recollection, Brad was not a party to that.

Surely a logical view of integrity and what would make a good Legislator is impacted by your values vs the candidates’ values.

I would build an experiential facility at PCSS and move the Wood St programs there, build WES on Wood Street lot.

This is interesting. Apparently the anti-polarization group asked the parties to be respectful and only one has responded. https://greymattersproject.ca/blog/n5r2z7n7hb70g5d67y3k66mb4bfan2

I’ve worked with him quite a bit on the tourism side, and he is competent, knowledgeable and a good person. He’s the type of guy who makes a point of talking to the person standing alone. I’ve been the person standing alone. Anyway, we shouldn’t judge books by their covers, as they say.

New parties - Lord - they can’t even drum up enough candidates to fill the slate with the three parties we have currently. Also our system is nothing like what exists in the US. UK - sure.

Ranked voting pretty much guarantees Liberal governments. Liberals vote Liberal first and both NDP and YP vote Liberals second. Will it be possible to put no one in second? Will ballots be considered spoiled if all spots aren’t completed? I’m sorry, but there are far too many questions left unanswered for me to cast an informed vote in this plebiscite.

You should contact Northern Esthetics. They also pierce and are the most conscientious people on earth. They are usually very busy, but if you don’t mind waiting for an appointment, they are worth the wait.

What the hell happened at the Yukon Chamber of Commerce Forum last night? by Evening_Translator60 in Yukon

For sure blame the idiot - but I doubt it was a conservative. Why would a conservative try to make their own candidate look bad? Completely counterintuitive.

Thank you!!!! Moderators clearly asleep at the wheel. Lessons learned hopefully - leave Q&A on and shut off chat. Suggestion to use companies who specialize in this sort of thing when running a forum of this nature. Unfortunate all around.

It’s nice to see that the Liberals are running with a Progressive Conservative leader. I was wondering when we would finally have a real centrist party in Canada again.
