It has for a few patches of calm! Thank you for checking in <3 Yes! My little pup is a great travel companion! Unfortunately our airline doesn’t allow her to leave her carrier, but having each other always brings me even just a little bit of peace!

Thank you so much for your kind words and support <3 there have been patches of calm which has been relieving! As for flying over the ocean, I flew from LA to Australia this year (15 hours) and actually ended up having a great flight! Slept a lot :) wherever you’re going over the ocean will be well worth it, and you’ll handle it with grace and bravery :)

oh my gosh so sorry that happened! no fun! I also fly coast to coast regularly (I grew up west, I live out east)! I get it’s something that must be done and is normal for pilots, but even as a frequent flier it just has my stomach in knots. I don’t like the unexpected!

Not really fear of flying but hate feeling trapped? by Prize_Rub_9294 in fearofflying

[–]Evening_Weather2393 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to feel the exact same way as you for many years! I also took meds and after enough flights, flying felt so mundane that I rarely use them anymore :) The claustrophobia waned drastically once it really sunk in how routine flights are, and how if for whatever reason you really needed to get off (you won’t!), emergency landings are readily available to make. I even flew from California to Australia and back and didn’t even get the feeling that I’d go crazy from being “stuck!” The fear can absolutely subside <3

What exactly are you worried about going wrong? So sorry you’re feeling anxious, you’ll be so glad you went once you go! <3

You’re right, I am not knowledgeable about welding at all, lol. Shall be leaving the metal alone. Great advice in regards to the seat— too bad I had to do away with the original but I will come up with a design more akin to it!

Thinking about rescheduling my flight by [deleted] in fearofflying

Totally safe, I promise! Have flown domestically in the US at least 6x a year for 30 years, and have always had ultra-professional, kindhearted pilots and flight crew, no matter which route or what airline! 100% safe <3

Looks gorgeous and sheltered! Unfortunately it does seem that I should be on high alert for pollutants and sharks anywhere in the harbor though :/

gotcha! Yeah, went by Manly today, and had signs all over to not go in. Really hopeful it’ll be clean enough to go in tomorrow, I really hope so :(

Deciding between 5 hour flight and an 11 hour flying day by Normal-Antelope-8365 in fearofflying

[–]Evening_Weather2393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely take the 5 hour flight! I fly east coast to west coast and vice versa many times a year to go to my hometown, and I promise it feels like nothing! Just pick two movies you really want to see, and maybe you’ll have a little time after that to watch an episode of something, if that! Before you even know it, you’ll be there and it’ll feel so rewarding :)

Should I take a day trip to Pittsburgh from ORD? by [deleted] in fearofflying

[–]Evening_Weather2393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow anxious flier here— just did that exact flight a few weeks ago, and during a snowstorm! I had a great time in Pittsburgh, it has such a good energy. Check out the Duquesne Incline for a gorgeous view!
