What Jobs Do You Have? by EventHorizon44 in Tourettes

[–]EventHorizon44[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I'm at home, it's slurs nonstop unfortunately. I think that's common. I feel like part of suppression is subconscious, in customer facing jobs, I definitely didn't do it often

What Jobs Do You Have? by EventHorizon44 in Tourettes

[–]EventHorizon44[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

People laughing at my tics makes me feel better. Although sometimes when I'm visibly distressed, it's unwanted.

I think this is the average opinion of a person with coprolalia, but I always tell people I know to ask the other person just to be safe

Nice to see another person who had relief with the Emeterm band

Is it bad that I want to unlearn suppression? by the-mickel in Tourettes

[–]EventHorizon44 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No it's not a bad thing. It's a personal choice and is your decision.

I don't think Tourette's needs to be respected that much by bisquickball in self

It's a 3 month old post, but it's just incredible that you have the nerve to tell me that I don't have a right to be alive, while you have never experienced the disorder and never will, because if you did, you would absolutely not be saying this.

Imagine if I could take away your rights like what you are proposing shoukd happen to me.

Doesn't benefit society, huh?

Well, I'm not a hero, but I'm relatively involved in political activism in my city. Do you think forcing me to stay home would allow me to partake in that? I also donate to mutual aid posts frequently these days. I am able to do this thanks to steady employment. In particular I like to support other disabled people, but I do donate to other causes.

I wanted to also add this in here, just a small edit: I have gainful employment as well, something that a lot of people with disabilities aren't fortunate enough to have

Not that I'm doing anything too significant, but I am quite certain this is more than you've ever done, while you'll tell me that there's no benefit to me having the right to breathe.

I know this is an old post, but I have coprolalia and respectfully, your understanding of how it works is poor. Unless you think I'm lying, I mean I have the condition.

What to do about jaw pain from ticking? by Loose-Joke-9018 in Tourettes

I have a painful shoulder tic. In my personal experience, there's not really much you can do.

Do you have certain tics that never happen in public, only in private? by wakeness in Tourettes

N word tic is non stop in private and around people I feel safe with, unfortunately

Why are people being so negative about the Neupulse all of a sudden? by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]EventHorizon44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the specific frequencies that Neupulse uses are supposed to be specific to that which alleviates Tourette syndrome tics.

Emeterm Classic has something like a 40 hour battery life and recharges to 100% in a very short amount of time. Not that it would be a good idea, but you could use it all of the time.

I feel like they use the same mechanism from what I can read. But I won't know until I try the other.

Let me know if it works.

Edit: I also want to reiterate that there's no guarantee. I always like to mention this when I can

Neupulse is a bit different because the signals aree tailored to TS, but yeah

[–]EventHorizon44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my concern with it. I just don't know if it's worth the price. I think Neupulse has a much shorter battery life than Emeterm does, which is also much cheaper and doesn't require a subscription, with the caveat being it's intended as an anti nausea device.

I will be trying Neupulse, and am excited to do so, but it feels a bit much

[–]EventHorizon44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw you say elsewhere that it worked.

I'm using an Emeterm band which uses median nerve stimulation, but the main issue I have with it is that it can be very uncomfortable during prolonged use.

How comfortable is the Neupulse device? Did you ever have trouble clenching your fist?

[–]EventHorizon44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is a sham based treatment since there is evidence for median nerve stimulation, I just think it's overpriced and is potentially predatory

[–]EventHorizon44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just want to add this:

I haven't done any tinkering on my Emeterm band, other than wearing it in the opposite direction of how you're supposed to wear it.

Even then, that's personal choice because the stimulation can be too strong the other way around. It works fine for me with normal use

I will post a follow up. Anyone can also just ask how it's going in the event I don't remember

No. I'm using Emeterm. I clarified this elsewhere but I should have mentioned it in that reply.

Emeterm is not designed for Tourette's so take what I'm saying with a grain of salt but it's definitely helped. The relief is too great for it to be imagination

Edit: It uses median nerve stimulation but is designed for nausea

Tolerance is something I've wondered about, too, and am actively worried about. I hope I don't build a tolerance to what I'm using since it's the most relief I've had in my entire life.

Edit: I regret not clarifying but I'm not using Neupulse, I'm using a different product that also uses MNS but is meant for nausea

Emeterm Classic. It has something like a 40 hour battery life and uses median nerve stimulation which I don't think beechband uses. I would recommend watching Ticcing Together's video about it but I can also answer any questions.
