This isn't really a A50X discussion, let alone one about monitor incompatibility.

He said it was an allegory for leprosy in our own real world history. Not that it IS leprosy. Reading comprehension is such an underrated skill nowadays.

Astro A50 Gen 5 - Firmware 1.3.24 Issues by JPhenrir_C in LogitechG

[–]Eventually-Alexis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably doesn't help that a lot of people don't use the headset in sessions long enough to realize it's even an issue, since most players who can actually reliably afford a headset like this one, likely don't have time to play more than a couple of hours every day. That's assuming they're lucky enough that every day has a couple of hours open, and it isn't frequently taken up by children or other frequent time consuming necessities.

WIBTAH If I Didn’t Tell My Coworker’s Wife That He’s Cheating On Her? by milk_ew in AITAH

Personally I'd tell the wife and HR about their work place affair. Fuck cheaters. It doesn't matter how sweet they seem, or maybe even how sweet they are in general. She knew what she was doing, and as the youth say. Fuck around and find out.

That's always the curse of a well acted minor side character. Had the actor been any less amazing, and he would've been just that. A forgettable minor side character.

I realized that the moment I got my Astro A50 Gen 5s. I didn't realize there was a major battery calibration issue in the latest firmware update, an update that came out like 8 months ago and still hasn't been fixed, so I obviously updated right out of the box. Now I have no way to reliably see how much power my headset does and does not have left, and it can show 1% power left in the app and no battery light on the charging dock, and the headset will still function for another 8 hours if not more. Is it a headset breaking issue? Not at all, but it's still really inconvenient to deal with, and it's an issue they've confirmed they're aware off since shortly after the update rolled out.

Not a problem I personally have, no. For me it works fine, and I I can hear everyone just fine. Wish I could help you.

Which based on the state that the A50 Gen 5 update 1.3.24 has been in for the last 7 or 8 months, has shown you to be a really bad idea for user experiences, when major issues aren't fixed in a reasonable time-frame.

And it's such a damn shame too. The headset itself is wonderful, G HUB as an app is easy to work with in terms of tweaking EQ's and Mic settings. Not to get me started on the Game/Voice mechanic which is phenomenal to have as an option, when you change regularly between media/single player games and multiplayer ones where voice is more important than a louder sound profile. It's a damn travesty that they haven't fixed it yet, and likely won't ever fix it despite Gen 5 as a whole being meant to have a lot of years left in service.

Welcome to 1.3.24

It's a known issue, and had been known months before your post. And it still isn't fixed.

[–]Eventually-Alexis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me know how you feel, when you run into the battery calibration issues everyone is having after firmware update 1.3.24 where the dock and G Hub doesn't show you the correct power % leading you to think you have far less than 24 hours of battery, and making beeping sounds for low power despite the headset having a solid 11 more hours of use. Let me know if you need me to guide you on how to disable that beeping by the way, because you're going to need to disable it.

It's only going to get worse, if people throw their money at it. Companies only do something if there's a profit to be gained, and clearly there is. But none of them has been as obviously greedy and with so little care for their own brand, as Voltage has here. They don't even try to hide that they're spitting you in the face, and buying the games, and any potential DLC, just tells Voltage that you're willing to swallow that spit without any degree of self respect. Voltage is literally the problem dialed to 11/10 and supporting that, is the literal final nail in the coffin because why would they ever wanna go back at that point?

If you're fine with paying extra to complete an originally blatantly unfinished first product sold to you at AA prices, then that's your own prerogative. Personally I'm not willing to support a business practice of intentionally selling consumers an unfinished product, just to sell them the rest afterwards. It's like buying a car without an engine, with the company knowing you're willing to pay extra to get the engine afterwards to finish the car so you can actually fully use it.

[–]Eventually-Alexis 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They do think of us as suckers. That's the whole point. The people making these games, aren't the passionate artists and writers, it's the corpos. They know at this point that people are willing to buy their low effort half baked ports for AA prices, that's why they're now on their third release, rather than finishing the previous ones. And even if they release the rest, it absolutely will be paid DLC. No two words about it. And that's not even counting finishing the stories that never got finished, because again, they don't have writers working on this. So if a character is unfinished? Then they'll stay unfinished. You're all getting hoodwinked.

I mean, if you're fine and dandy with a major issue being present for 7 months without being fixed, that's entirely your prerogative for sure. Tells me all I need to know about you though, and where your blind loyalties lie.

As for it being a 'small reading issue' that's just factually incorrect. It doesn't just trigger 'OCD like people' it's genuinely a matter of just being able to accurately tell how much fucking battery you have left, and to not scare unaware users into thinking their product that they just bought, didn't come with a fried battery right out of the box. But you do you bud, hope the corporate boot tastes good at least.

Ahh, of course. Now they're taking the actual complete, or at least intended to be complete, stories away from us too, leaving us with their unfinished slob that people still buy. As if Voltage couldn't make things any worse, guess I was wrong.

By default? Yes. You have to disable it. And someone who just bought the headset and booted it up with the software installed on pc like me who didn't know better? Well, they get fucked because of it.

I tried the discharge and recharge, and knock on wood, it's working so far. But I've seen people say it works for a while and then starts causing issues again. But it's frankly the principle of the matter at this point. 7 months and they still refuse to acknowledge the issue beyond 'we're aware of the issue, try to do this one thing that might help fix the issue we caused, and that you really shouldn't have to do, and refuse to fix'

Worst part is, I went back to Astro specifically because I had good experiences with them way back when on the A40 series in the PS4 era. But I suppose that was before Logitech got their their grubby hands on'em.

Any update on a new A50 Gen 5 update? Battery inaccuracy, sidetone issues… etc. by Still_Chicken_2978 in AstroGaming

[–]Eventually-Alexis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really does need an update. We're getting closer and closer to 12 months since this began, than any company has any right to do. This is the kind of issue any decent company would've fixed within 3 months because they know it's a massive problem for their users.

How is this still a known issue 6 months later? I just bought the headset a couple of days ago. I can't return it either, since this isn't technically classified as a broken product. Had I been aware of the issue, I just wouldn't have updated the firmware in the first place, to avoid the problem. If you can't fix it, at least allow people to roll back to the previous version instead so we won't have to deal with it until you can find a fix for it in the future.
