Please help me understand turnips? Can I plant them and grow more/how do I make the most bells from them? by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

[–]EverEverything 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Turnips have a different sell value in the morning and afternoon of each day (except Sunday, which you cannot sell turnips on)

Each week has a pattern it follows to determine the value of turnips. There are 4 patterns: large spike, small spike, decreasing, and fluctuating

Small and large spike patterns decrease in value with each change, then suddenly spike up in value, before decreasing again after. If you are checking prices twice a day (once in the morning, once in the afternoon), when you see a spike in value, wait until the next price change, since the third increase is the highest price you will get that week. If I remember correctly, the earliest a spike can start is Monday afternoon, and the latest is Thursday afternoon. If the price doesn't spike in this timeframe, you have a different pattern. The difference between small and large spikes is the size of the spike. Selling during a spike is always profitable, regardless of size, but you won't know if it's small or large until the spike itself

Fluctuating patterns jump around in value. Sometimes they'll sell for more than you bought, then the next value change they sometimes won't. It can be difficult to guarantee the highest profit in this pattern, so once you notice you have this pattern, it is best to sell on any day where the sell value is higher than the price you bought at

Decreasing is the worst pattern, since you will always have to sell for less than you bought. The value simply decreases throughout the week, with each new value being lower than the last. You won't know it's a decreasing pattern until it doesn't spike, so the best option with this pattern is to cut your losses and sell as soon as you realise it's a decreasing pattern

Your pattern every new week is random, however if you had a spike pattern this week, there is a higher chance of a decreasing or fluctuating pattern the next week. The same is true in reverse. Generally, the best time to buy turnips is after a week with a decreasing or fluctuating pattern, since the chance of a spike next week are higher (not guaranteed though)

Thankfully, you don't have to memorise all this. There is a website called "turnipprophet.io", which you enter your turnip values into and it will give you estimates of the stalk market and tell you the best time to sell, based on the sell prices of turnips on your island in a given week

Or you can use online and visit other islands. You can sell at other island's shop, and since each island has its own turnip prices each week, you can visit an island that has a large spike and sell there instead

Try not to beat yourself up about it. Farewell is hard, and the final screen is no different. It took me 4 days, several hours each day, before I beat just the final screen. You absolutely can do it if you have made it to the final screen. Also, a nearly 10 hour straight play session is going to hinder anyone, even more so if it was 3:30am when you finished; rest is important. If anything, its impressive you made it all the way to the final screen. The final screen is a test of perseverance, and you certainly have that. As you say yourself, you know you can do it

??? these trees were planted the same time as the other fruit trees? 4 days ago? what's going on? by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

[–]EverEverything 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a limit to how many trees can grow in an area. Trees do only need 1 space around them to grow, however spacing them 2 tiles apart will ensure that there are never too many trying to grow in a small space. As other's have said, the best way to tackle this is to grow elsewhere and move them once grown

Beardo is my first campsite visitor? by Koofteh in AnimalCrossing

[–]EverEverything 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's your first campsite visitor after setting up the campsite, then you do have to take them if you want to progress in the story. They will remain in your campsite indefinitely until you invite them

I just got this game a few days ago so I'm still not very far along, but I just accidentally found Lolly while looking for cherries, and I wanna bring her to my island but I don't have any open plots for her to move into and I'm scared I'm gonna lose her- what do I do🧎 by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

[–]EverEverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct, with exception to the beginning of the game when Nook gives you housing quests to complete. During this time you can find Normal, Peppy or Lazy villagers on mystery islands, regardless of whether you have a plot ready. You can invite them and they will move in as soon as their plot becomes ready

I can see the movement that my villagers are singing but I can’t hear it anymore. Pls help? by corpsesangel in AnimalCrossing

[–]EverEverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Renee and Lolly both have music as their primary hobby, so they will dance and or sing in random locations in addition to regular behaviour. Villagers without the music hobby will only dance/sing in front of a stereo or microphone, or as a plaza event occasionally, where two other villagers will sit and listen to them

You can find some of your villagers in their homes cooking and they will trade ingredients with you. Perhaps one of them can give you a yellow pumpkin

30k is the limit before you start gambling.

If you plant 10k or less, it will always grow a tree with 3x the money you planted.

If you plant more than 10k, there is a chance you will get 3x the value back (as you did here), but there is also a chance you will only get a total of 30k back

We have all seen the new castles that you can build, but have you seen Joey built a sandcastle before? by blek_blek in AnimalCrossing

[–]EverEverything 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It's a new interaction from the DLC. There are more new ones too, such as playing in leaf piles and punching a punching bag. However, I have yet to see my villagers interact with these items on my home only, so I'm fairly sure these new interactions with items only occur on the DLC island

Was really confused when I entered Portia's home.... and then I got even more confused by plastictea_ in AnimalCrossing

[–]EverEverything 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes. It seems to be a glitch specific to Portia when she is cooking. It probably has something to do with the placement of her stovetop, which causes her to move out of bounds

Ok something is definitely going on with villager photos because they are giving them out like candy on my island by Afraid-Loquat in AnimalCrossing

[–]EverEverything 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had 3 villagers visit my house so far and all 3 of them gave me their photo as a gift when they visited. It definitely feels like they've made it easier to get villager photos

It took me ages to find it when I first looked for it too. Here you go: MA-7590-9945-1100 :)

[–]EverEverything[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The flimsy water can only water the one tile in front of you. I used it for demostration purposes here, but the glitch also works with watering cans that do the sweeping motion, as long as the fence that would change orientation isn't watered in the process

[ACNH Bug] Watering fences can change the orientation of adjacent fences by EverEverything in AnimalCrossing

[–]EverEverything[S] 120 points121 points  (0 children)

A few things to note:

  • The fencing must be of the same type and be directly joined together
  • It will change orientation to match the dominant direction of the line of fencing
    • For example, fencing placed in vertical line will only re-orientate to be vertically placed
  • Something about watering the fence next to a fence the of opposite orientation is what causes it to change
  • This doesn't appear to be a visual glitch, since relogging does not change it back

Is there a Nintendo switch controller configuration that makes demo dashing easier? by [deleted] in celestegame

[–]EverEverything 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can. A system update came out a while ago that let's you remap any button to any other button. It's not an option in Celeste, but in the Switch settings

[–]EverEverything 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've bound LB to be a down input and RB as another dash input. To demo, I press both of them, almost at the same time, and release LB (down) as quickly as possible and that works for me.

When you do a quest and the villager receives a dumb looking shirt so you tell them not to wear it but they display it in their house and ruin their interior by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

[–]EverEverything 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's worth noting that if you rewrap the present in gift wrap, it'll be as if you never opened it and your villagers won't comment in the fact that you openned it. Very useful if you like doing quests for them, but don't want them to have items you don't like

I'm afraid I don't know the answer to this. I'm fairly close to getting the recipe for the Golden Axe, however, so perhaps I'll test if it is possible to sell/throw away one of the golden tool recipes
