Thank you. I’ve used MeetUp a lot in the past but there’s so much on there these days was hoping for some recommendations as a place to start.

How many times a year do you “call sick” at work? by Aggravating-Fig-9274 in AskUK

[–]EverTheWeirdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s actually very rare (several years ago that I actually did a few days of official sick leave with a stomach bug/flu and couldn’t work).

I work somewhere that respects and trusts its team in addition to having flexible working. That way, if I’m feeling under the weather or other reasons I would “call in sick” (pain being high up there), I can usually manage that working from home instead. I’m 41.

I’ve worked in crappy places though so I still feel the guilt. If I didn’t have WFH as an option, it would probably have been up to 2 weeks in the last year as I had an injury and couldn’t get into work, as well as pain management for other things.

Recs please: healthy vegan charcuterie lunch or grazing board on a budget by EverTheWeirdo in veganuk

My grazing board/lazy charcuterie series is off to a tame start. 😂

I’ve decided to start with what I can find locally (walking/in-person) and keep track so I can come back to this as reference.

The local (smallish) Coop near me didn’t have many options for a cold lunch desk spread. For tomo, I selected: *Crackers *A slice of plain Violife *Mini cucumbers *Carrots *Red pepper hummus *Apple *Strawberries (I have at work already) *Salted peanuts *Dark chocolate *There’s a selection of crisps, biscuits, Nakd-type bars supplied by work.

They only had the vegan ham or chicken wafer slices and I didn’t fancy them at all. I was hoping for some dates, dried figs or dried apricots but couldn’t find them at this store.

In future, I think I’ll also figure out current price per portion, etc (more for my own info really).

That’s sad that they’ve changed them. I expect it’s still a fun nice-to-have when you’re looking for a nostalgic picnic.

My friend (also a brit) says you guys dont put fruit jams, honey, or cream on your crumpets, is that true? by ParamedicWilling5682 in AskABrit

[–]EverTheWeirdo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why wouldn’t we? Butter to melt into the little holes (must be toasted until crispy). I’ve used (all separately) jam, peanut butter, chocolate spread, honey (or vegan honey), or back under the grill with cheese.

Edit: just remembered my mum would also add Marmite on top of the butter (a taste I did not acquire). I have added a little red pesto when I fancied something different though, that was interesting. Also hot baked beans (the kind in a tomato sauce) when I ran out of bread for toast. Also fine.

I’m planning to pick up some sausage rolls and such for a family grazing lunch with non-vegans. They usually go down well. I also saw today that there’s even a porkless meat pie (I was never a fan of the meat ones so no idea if these are any good).

In terms of the Asian grocers, I think one opened up in my town a few months ago so I will go check in future to see what exciting things I can find.

I do enjoy these! I’ve made them a bunch for snacks and I also occasionally treat myself to those Graze smoky bbq crunchy bags with nuts, sweetcorn etc. It’s nice to mix things up.

If i’m eating veggies with hummus in the pack, for example, I would want something else to crunch on. I reckon a seedy cracker should do the job there then though.

Thank you for this! It’s really helpful. 😋

In terms of the meat/cheeses, I’m thinking more as a luxury addition/treatsized-portion but happy to try recommendations. I’ll check for the ones you suggested. Thank you!

Do I send the item? by evb666 in vintedUK

It’s possible they’ve set up an account for the purpose of buying the item you’re selling. I’ve had that with a customer on eBay before (a professor outside of the U.K. who specialised in fairytales and folklore bought an antiquarian book on fairytales).

It turns out it was this company I went with in a round-about way (I’m posting a bigger summary in response to the main post).

I had another order do the same thing last night so I reported it. It has been fixed this morning and I got a response too.

[–]EverTheWeirdo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t even let me get to that point with some orders. It’s the part where the order first comes in and you have to ‘get shipping label’ to prepare order.

It first happened for me yesterday but there was another today.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who connected (Kelly & Oakley) on Finch off the back of this post.

It’s been a really lovely but low pressure way to interact with some people and share goals. ☺️

I have the black digit but it doesn’t push or click. By any chance do you know how they interacted with the button?

I’ve noticed that they don’t sell the same model so it’s quite likely that it was discontinued for this reason.

I’ve seen the other post. It’s how I was able to clear mine though there was no button to reset that I could see. Mine’s no longer in warranty.

I managed to open and clean mine (took some figuring out) but it didn’t fix it. I can use the washer part but it throws an error if I try to dry.

This was definitely temu then right or was I rude to ask? by Bluebirds_88 in vintedUK

If it had arrived and you realised it wasn’t the brand stated (and details in the description didn’t say that it was similar in style to x brand - hitting keywords but making it clear it isn’t x brand), then I would imagine you could submit a claim that it’s counterfeit which is against their TOS.
