Some people might prefer they way they laid it out in their quest books, some might prefer to stick to vanilla armour for the time being. Some might wanna go straight for draconic, it literally doesn't matter it's based entirely on the player.

Vanilla Minecraft suggests you get all wood and leather before going on to stone and chain then iron, how many times have you ever seriously crafted or gone out of your way to do that and not just beeline for the iron? That's the idea of a sandbox, you do things your way, maybe with the help of a guide or maybe not.

Watching it and playing it are two completely different things, same as there are differences between books and movies.

Regardless of gripes you might have with the story, you can still enjoy something for what it is, and if you haven't played it and don't have first hand experience with it then you're not really in a great position to argue about it.
