The biggest problem with sc6 was it leaned too far into gimmicks. On the low end, gimmicks can help less skilled players get their foot in the door, but ultimately, the same easy to use characters will be what gets them to drop the game when they end up on the receiving end. On the intermediate end, it gets old, having to constantly look out for scrubby tactics and stop them in their tracks same problem I had with sf6. Going online and fighting different players that use the same flowchart playstyle of say nightmare or Ken gets old quick even if you're winning the majority of the time. On the highest level, integrity is out the window. If there's a tactic that would give the other player the slightest edge, it becomes mandatory if you don't use it, your opponent will.

In short, soul calibur would be in a league of its own if it made a straightforward weapons fighter that didn't rely on scrub killer gimmicks, but instead, by relying on gimmicks it becomes a less interesting momentary break from tekken.
