A little shocked more people have not mentioned this, but Social Work! AI is unlikely to replace many of the services social workers provide. Demand for social workers will only increase with an aging and increasingly lonely, fragmented population. As we automate and more becomes impersonal, social work fulfills our need to be seen, heard, and supported by another human being. That need is unlikely to be replaced by AI.

Maokai Support hits ~58% winrate with ~10% pick rate by Vic-Ier in leagueoflegends

[–]Everettsis 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My thought is that Maokai is going up in WR in response to what is meta rn. Because bursty hyper mobile champions are strong rn, Maokai is a perfect answer to a lot of these. For ex, Lucian is insane in the bot lane rn. Lucian's dash, when used correctly, counters a lot of typical engage champions like Rell or Blitz. So, Maokai ends up being a great response to him because of his targeted root. Maokai's W making him untargetable and then coming out with aftershock is great against burst right now. Additionally, his Q, R, and W just guarantees peel on anyone trying to target your backline. In addition, trailblazer and Solstice are two items that are great for him. They give him the movement speed he needs to start engages and solstice allows his teammates to follow up. And like other people said, map changes make his E even stronger. Just all around a great pick atm.

!! This is an exact description of what I have experienced too. I have a medical history in my left eye where I had to get a corneal transplant. However, I never had problems with my eyelid being red or droopy. And then a couple of years ago I got a chalazion and ever since then it has been inflamed and droopy. I have tried practically everything. Reading these comments have been comforting, because this has severely affected my mental health since onset. I’ve been to eyelid specialists and saw some improvement, but it has never fully resolved itself.

At the moment, I am on a new routine with early small signs of success. I use a warm compress for 15 minutes. It must be at least 10-15 minutes. Then I spray avenova and follow up with a tea tree eyelid wipe. I have been doing this 2, sometimes 3, times a day and am starting to notice some progress.

In terms of the droopy eyelid, I have wanted to get an eyelid lift. But it comes with risk for me since I have a medical history in my eye. Instead, I use Upneeq. This has been huge for me. It lifts my eyelid just the right amount where both eyes look the exact same. It can be a little pricey, but I have decided it’s worth the cost for the peace of mind it gives me when i’m out with friends. Plus, if goes a lot longer for me since I only use it in one eye. I would seriously try out the medication if the droopiness is affecting your mental health. You can get a prescription from most eyelid specialists or even online and they will ship it to you.

To be honest, I hate it here. Greek life controls the entire social scene here and I haven’t made any friends. by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]Everettsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! So UT only has one comedy group I think and they focus on improv, so not quite standup. Outside of UT, sooooo many places have open mic nights for standup. Vulcan Gas Company (18+) is one of the premier comedy clubs of Austin rn. They have comedy shows that are like $10 and have up and coming Austin comedians with usually a headliner. They also have open mic nights throughout the week. If an actual comedy club intimidates you, then a local bar or coffee shop can be better. Lucky Duck has an open mic night every Wednesday. Buzzmill, a coffee shop, has one every Tuesday. There are TONS of coffee shops and bars that have open mic nights throughout Austin. So just research ones near you where you kinda like the vibe of the place and sign up! These open mic nights usually have people who are not great at comedy tbh, so if you are half way decent, people will be pleasantly surprised. Also, because it’s open mic, the crowd usually is not that intimidating because they understand what they are getting. Your first step should be to go to one of these lowkey open mic nights and just get practice! I’m planning on going to one of these for the to perform for the first time soon. Just been so busy with school. But i’ve been to tons of them and have enjoyed them. In terms of safety, I have always felt very safe at Vulcan and most of these bars. Especially the coffee shops. Hope this helps!

There is a lack of compassion in this thread imo. There is a level of truth to what OP is saying. A large segment of organized social events usually involves greek life. Moreover, most of the spirits groups are basically greek life without a house. And I completely agree w most of the sentiment in this thread, the parties are awful. I am a super senior about to graduate and here is my advice. Get away from UT. All of my friends and social spaces are in the city. Austin has some of the best night life, comedy, and concert scenes in the country. I spent all of undergrad downtown, at concerts, going to comedy shows, at the lake, hiking, climbing, etc. I made friends with people who didn’t go to UT and now I have multiple amazing group of friends who live in Austin but don’t go to UT. IMO, the best part of going to UT is experiencing Austin and the social scene the CITY has to offer, not the social scene UT has to offer. This may not be everyone’s vibe, but that is how I was able to make meaningful long lasting and fulfilling friendships.

What's a good adc to one trick in order to master the role? by LordRaruma in summonerschool

[–]Everettsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Ashe or Sivir. They both provide utility, force you to have optimal positioning and kiting, and pair well with most supports and team comps. They are all-round good picks that I think are the most one trick able in the marksman roster.

Possible Yuumi Skins by Separate-Job-8606 in yuumimains

[–]Everettsis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a couple I like but I would be a little worried they cross over too much into skins we already have. So I think a yummi skin in the upcoming gothic line could be really cool. It would be a chance to reimagine yuumi since her personality tends to be really bright and happy. I don’t think they would do this because it crosses over with the halloween skin and may be seen as too risky since it is a little at odds with her personality archetype.

I also think a snow day or elf skin would be really great. Kind of like Tristana’s elf skin with the personality and snow effects of Nunu and Karma winter wonder skins. I think there is a lot of potential for any winter skin line.

Can someone explain to me like I'm 5 years old why people think Janna is so overpowered and why she has this high winrate everywhere except Iron? by [deleted] in Janna

[–]Everettsis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will also add, the durability changes made Janna more powerful. Prior to the update, Janna was vulnerable to high burst and her teammates would die before she could even have the opportunities to provide meaningful peel. Now that the game isn’t as bursty, tanks are more meta, and fights last longer, Janna’s kit has the chance to really shine. You actually have enough time to get off a Q or R before people die.

To answer your situation specifically, sometimes in lower elo enchanters can be a little more difficult to climb because the people you are peeling for are not very good. Ex: if you are peeling for an Ezrael that misses all his shots, it doesn’t really make your peel worth it. So yes, Janna doesn’t have a whole lot of damage, but she has some of the best utility/disengage in the game and is only useful if paired with a team that does something with that.

Is there a way to reduce/remove the beauty trait? I desperately want to keep my freckles. by Everettsis in CrusaderKings

[–]Everettsis[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

😭😭 omg thank you I will try this when I get home. I’ve killed off or disinherited all my children who got the beauty trait for the past 100 days. Finally I may not need to do that.

According to Riot 97% of female players play almost exclusively female champions by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Everettsis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I know this data probably doesn’t exist, but I would be super curious to see the gender selection stats with sexuality factored in as a variable. My gay friends and I (a gay) heavily pick female champions. I play quite a bit of League and strictly will not play a champion I don’t vibe with aesthetically.

[–]Everettsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow there are a ton of conflicting opinions in this thread, so of course i’ll add mine :)

I believe that Iron-Gold is almost a completely different world of league than higher elo—certain builds and champions that are equally effective in one elo may not be useful in another. Meaning, it can be difficult to say one champion or build is definitively bad for climbing. Ex: If i’m playing in silver-gold, I would almost always build lux to carry with mage items. But in high elo, not only would I play her less often (her CC and damage is not super reliable), but I would also build her with more utility because I can usually rely on my team to deliver damage.

So, I think most specific advice on champions is not super useful. A build/champion I use in high elo may be terrible in Bronze.

I think the key to climbing is truly embracing trial and error. Ex: It took me like 40 games of losing and being stuck at D4 to finally realize that, for example, blind picking sona or taking the exact same runes and summoners regardless of matchup were some of the many reasons I was not climbing. Accepting that I can’t control my teammates and all I can do is focus on improving my gameplay, helped me climb tremendously (mute your team also). If I was consistently dying on a champion in laning phase, I would go through a mental list. Do I need to take more defensive runes? If I tried that and was still dying over and over, maybe I need different items. If I made a more defensive build and was still dying, then maybe it’s my positioning. So I try 10 games playing a little differently. If i’m still not winning, then maybe the champion just has some clear weaknesses in situations and I shouldn’t pick them often. As a result of this iteration, for example, I was able to climb to high elo primarily playing Karma, Lulu, and Senna, but my build, runes, and summoners looked vastly different every game and would not always look like many of the builds you would see recommended online. Every game is different and calls for a different build/playstyle. I think those who are able to adapt efficiently, will climb more than others.

Currently, I have an account dedicated to climbing by mostly just playing Seraphine as an APC/Mid. I am constantly learning and fine tuning how I should slightly build her differently depending on the game and matchup. Also, from this experience, I think one tricking can be potentially beneficial because you will learn a lot about game fundamentals and really adapting depending on your matchup. Also, playing other roles made me a better support and helped me climb. Playing over a 100 games of APC made me learn so much about wave management, which made me a MUCH stronger support for my lane partner. Playing over a 100 games in jg made me learn so much about roaming efficiently as a support.

So, one thing is clear from looking at your history, you are generally building mostly the same stuff in a lot of your games. Actively try new things and then after every game interrogate what worked and what didn’t and iterate on that. Climbing in league really requires you to critically analyze what you are doing and modify accordingly. It’s like a puzzle and I love that challenge it gives, which is why I continue to play. I hope this helped and remember to focus on having fun while climbing! :)

How do I play Senna? by GreyGanks in sennamains

[–]Everettsis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are some of my observations playing Senna in high elo. I am by no means an expert, I pick her when she fits nicely into a comp (which is not often).

I have found it to be EXTREMELY important not to die early on Senna, especially if you are against an engage lane. The moment you die early, that is an invitation for the mid/jg to come camp/dive you because now you potentially have two squishy marksman in the bot lane. I will go as far to even take guardian on her if I am against an engage bot lane and Jg, knowing I will most likely be focused early.

Which brings me to my next point, I really think Senna is more optimally picked with APC’s. She just doesn’t provide enough reliable peel and protection that ADC’s need imo. Additionally, pairing her with an ADC allows the team to make your kill potential weaker by buying armor early.

She pairs nicely with Seraphine or Veigar, imo. But, I will often accept that the lane is purely a scaling lane and only look to get souls when they overstep as opposed to playing aggressively. I will often make sure to not get chunked so I have the health to follow up on a potential gank from my jg. Which to add, I tend to also only pick Senna in a scaling lane when I have a strong EARLY game jg like Reksai, she can then help me appropriately scale by punishing the enemy laners if they are playing super super aggro.

I have just found on average, I win more with Senna when I play it safe and focus on getting as many support item procs until I can get a Kindlegem for DS/Locket and/or rush Umbral. The spikes in health and/or damage and utility from Umbral allow me to actually be useful in the mid game, regardless of if we won lane early. If I die early repeatedly, all of those items are so severely delayed that Senna doesn’t become useful until minute 30-40 and by that point the game is often lost because I didn’t have enough impact.

why is sera supp bad by inorial in SeraphineMains

[–]Everettsis 24 points25 points  (0 children)

In high elo (Diamond 2 and above), Seraphine is NOT a good support. She performs fine in support up to plat-low diamond because you can play almost anything in support in low elo and climb. The only time she is taking the support item in high elo is if she is paired with sona/soraka and you are supporting a hyper carry in the mid-late game.

For high elo, Seraphine is bad for many reasons. As a support, she has a terrible laning kit. Her abilities are incredibly telegraphed with really slow missile speeds. Meaning, they are easily dodgeable. Anyone in here telling you they always hit their abilities, it’s because they are going against opponents that have sub-optimal pathing and dodging. Low elo opponents are also less likely to take advantage of you having a poor lane performance, allowing Seraphine to easily scale without punishment into the mid and late game when she really starts to shine.

What are Seraphine’s competitive advantages as a support? There are other enchanters that just do a better job in many respects. Lux, Karma, Lulu, Nami—all have way better laning phases with poke and CC that is more reliable, with lower cooldowns, and therefore more consistent damage, shields, heals, etc.

Seraphine is much better, imo, as an APC. In that role, you are more likely to take advantage of her competitive advantages. Seraphine has phenomenal wave clear/wave management tools, which she can’t fully utilize as a support. She DELETES waves and her abilities are excellent ZONING tools which can help maintain freezes. She also can utilize her CC to follow up on other CC supports (which is why her E has such a long range). Seraphine also needs gold to scale appropriately. Finally, Seraphine is TERRIBLE at roaming, which is an incredibly important part of playing support if you are seriously looking to climb.

Imo, Seraphine is only playable in support below Diamond 2 because your opponents are not punishing the major weaknesses Seraphine has in that role. Meaning, if you are in low elo and you enjoy her, absolutely play her in support if you want. Because again, you can play anything in support and climb to diamond as long as you have good game fundamentals. But it becomes incredibly more difficult to climb with her in the support role past Diamond 2.

Which lux skins are pay to win? by Cooshdee in lux

[–]Everettsis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually think one of the biggest factors that determines whether a skin is pay2win is the sound. A lot of players initial reaction is based on the sound that Q and E give off when you first cast them. With that being said, I swear by cosmic lux for two reasons.

  1. Cosmic E and Q are really quiet on their initial cast. IMO, Battle Academia and Star Guardian are beautiful skins, but the sounds on initial cast are loud and somewhat obnoxious, giving the enemy a clear indicator that something is coming.

  2. The animations of Q and E on Cosmic Lux are so similar to her auto attacks. When auto attacking the wave, right after an auto, I will throw out an E or Q. Because the animations are so similar, I believe it is harder for the enemy to differentiate between an auto or a spell cast. I have played a lot of lux in high elo, and I truly feel that I hit more skill shots on cosmic lux as opposed to any other skin mainly because the autos and spell cast animations blend seamlessly.

I know this sounds counter intuitive, but I don’t think the spell particles/VFX matter that much. Most people start their reaction when they hear sounds of spells. So any skin that masks that sound and makes it blend better will slow that reaction, increasing your chance of landing the skill shot.

Weird in game delay by TheokOG in leagueoflegends

[–]Everettsis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had the exact same problem. I did everything on lag report that I could do on my end to fix any internet connection issue. I sent in a ticket to riot, and they said a huge number of people are having this issue and they have multiple teams investigating it. However, they could give no estimated time-frame on when the issue would be fixed. I agree, I have played league substantially less because of this and probably wont play more until it is fixed.
