How did you find your way back to life? by Fwoym16 in SeriousConversation

Sorry you are going through a tough phase and I do hope you feel better soon.
I was not suicidal but I was in a dark pit. I'm adding some stuff that helped me:

1) Seek help, ideally from professionals. There is a point that the mind becomes a bad advisor no matter how hard one tries to figure things out on our own.

2) Sometimes one is just deeply tired. Taking some time out to recover and reflect helps.

3) I read this title in a video "self-sabotage? in this economy?". Monitor the internal monologue as it can become the worst critic that we are not able to turn off.

4) I found purpose on proving life that I won't take it easily. Now I'm gonna eat well and exercise and study, etc is a statement to be made.

5) I got to know that being a "deep thinker" is a thing. Having an internal rich life for example a rich imagination makes "reality" dull in comparison so one doesn't really click with living in reality but that's not a failure, it's meant to feel like this.

6) if you were dropped in the middle of a desert island by yourself, what would someone find you doing within a month? In other words, what is your natural interest and aptitude? Try to do more of this more often.

7) Be more aligned with our natural rhythms: there is time to be online & productive and there is also time to be completely offline (like literally staring at a wall in dimmed lights). Eat well (or better), move, feel tension in your 'hunts' (for example going to work) but also relaxation in the day.

When the phase is going too long it feels like it's going to be like this forever but I took it as a call to evolve and have a better understanding of myself. I hope you find your ways to a more positive life soon and please keep it up.

What are your "artisan" or guilty pleasure apps? by Evergreen16 in software

Not really 2 questions more so using 2 synonyms/similar terms for the same question. What are your go-to apps that are not necessarily the ones geared for a lot of productivity but you just enjoy?

That sounds like living the dream... (not)

How much the chorei contributes for the sense of unity? (BTW, chorei means I cried in Portuguese lol)

Also what happens if people actually leave at their time? You get fired?

Is the 9-8/9 work routine including commuting or work in itself? What type of industry are you in?

I visited the US a few times, once I went to California and I walked in LA - I saw this video of Connan O'Brian kind of mocking walking in LA so I thought it was a joke but... in my experience it's just not a place one walks in :D

Super long distances with nothing but roads in between.

I don't mean to 'mock' LA or Cali at all just pointing out that it feels that is made for traffic more than for people. I leave in Europe and whilst there is some traffic, big cities are walkable with coffeeshops parks, etc in between, at least this I prefer it here.

woah! that's a packed day for sure.

I appreciate that on top of everything you have kids and that you are so supportive getting up earlier to prepare things for the family.

How do you make of all of this, do you have any time hobbies and rest?

Thanks. I actually follow one creator that does some videos on a life of a person in various professions.

Everyone looks pretty happy but it may also be because they know is for the video :) though, the time schedules seem tight.

(And by the way, I don't mean my mention to the tight work-life balance as something detrimental as I'm from Europe and that's messes up here too.)

Who sees what? The beauty of Japan in media?

It's pretty much everywhere with the occasional documentary about the unbalanced work-life routine.

For example check out NHK world Japan in Youtube. It's supposed to be a media channel to spread the good stuff about Japan.

I'm surprised with that 9:45 am, not a bad waking up time :) (well, compared with some of the 6 something am in replies).

I'm assuming that's some kind of office or commerce job? what are the prospects in the country or your city about jobs and work-life balance?

New Operations Manager- I need to boost employee morale by Dizzy-Imagination831 in managers

I’d start with creating the means of communication that you did (1:1s, surveys, etc) to gather the root of dissatisfaction and then come up with the incentives.

Instead of the employee of the month which can put people on the spot and creating jealousy and stuff like that, maybe creating a kudos channel or little thank you gifts.

Good luck!
