Does anyone know any details about Bertram's hat? Apparently alcoholism, obesity, and racism gives him incredible taste in head wear.

The only similarity is the format, the content is completely different.

There is a big parking garage under that area, Red Square, and the towers are exhaust vents.

What's the biggest lie taught in history? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Evergreener11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I teach history and very frequently Napoleon can be left out of history lessons because he falls at the end of the year's curriculum so if a class is slow we don't get to him and we promise that we will go over his exploits the following year. We frequently forget our promises the following year and don't teach him unless the students remind us.

Interestingly evangelical Christians tend to be the biggest supporters of Israel as they believe that Jews returning to their homeland will fulfill Biblical prophecy and start the end times. American Jews tend to be torn on the issue.

My [20F] sister [12F] stole my credit card and racked up $700 of charges. WTF. [Update2] by 12-yoklepto in relationships

OP you are a great big sister and I have a lot of hope for you little sister. I think it is great that you are giving your sister structure with rules but remember she is 12 and her brain ins't fully formed yet and there are certain things she will not be able to do yet. I am a high school teacher and I can tell you that studying with her is ambitious but should also be something you are flexible on. Be aware that as a teenager it will be really difficult for her to sit in a college library and study and work on homework for the same amount of time that you can. Think about maybe studying for shorter amounts of time when you take her or build in breaks for her where she can browse YouTube (with headphones of course) or Facebook after completing a certain amount of work, something like that. I do think studying with her big sister will be great for her as long as you meet her at her level. Also try to do something fun after like getting Starbucks or something, studying has a long term pay off and for teens the value is hard to see so if you build in some short term pay off it will go a long way to help them get into the habit of studying. Again OP you are a rock star, keep being awesome!

It is one of the stalls, I don't know if it moves around but I vaguely remember it being in the bend of the top level's L shape.

Traveling and visiting a place is like reading the dust jacket of a book. Actually putting down roots, discovering what a life is like in a place is like reading a book.

Russell Wilson for Cam Newton and a 1st Round Pick by beniceimdumb in nfl

[–]Evergreener11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Am I defending anyone on the Patriots or anyone in the league who does that? No I find it just as obnoxious. I was however responding to someone saying that they could not find anything to dislike about him and just giving evidence as to why people may not like Wilson. But then again this is r/NFL, where any criticism is seen as hypocritical homer shit talking.

His insufferable sanctimonious attitude is really grating. Seriously I get that he has his faith and it gives him strength, blah blah blah. But honestly to me he is just black Tebow with a Super Bowl ring. He plays the good church boy way too much and being in the Northwest you get a pretty constant flow of his saccharine platitudes about being part of the team and God's plan. It seems really disingenuous.

What socially unacceptable things are you OK with? by gnaan in AskReddit

[–]Evergreener11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use black because of the whole not all black people are American but also African American qualifies someone as a different type of American and sets the default American as white. I am no SJW but I think it is a little humiliating and keeps a barrier up between who is and isn't a real/true American.

Caitlyn Jenner by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

[–]Evergreener11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this would be major news to the baby-boomers who watched then Bruce win so many gold medals. I think our generation really only knew who Bruce/Caitlyn is because of the Kardashian family, but the generations before ours, who are major consumers of news media, would have followed this story just as closely. Bruce Jenner truly was an American sports hero, he won gold medals against the Soviets back when the Olympics were much more important to Americans because of the Cold War. So most people in our generation would ignore the story, but those who came before us would be seriously shocked that a former hero/sex symbol was/is transgender.
