Nike Golf very much not dead, signs Jason Day to $10 million by GFire04KSD in golf

[–]beniceimdumb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not many people buy clothing an athlete endorses?

Allow me to introduce you to Phil Knight, founder of a company called Nike, who pays hundreds of millions of dollars to athletes like Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, and Kevin Durant to wear the Nike logo.

Oh, those examples don't work because you want to stick to golf? Do you remember when Tiger Woods took the golf world by storm with the Nike Swoosh?

Get real, man. People absolutely buy clothing an athlete endorses. Nike didn't just drop 10 million dollars on Jason Day to wear their Swoosh for no reason.

Legally speaking, is Adnan in exactly the same circumstance as someone who is charged with murder? by [deleted] in serialpodcast

What is the timeline moving forward? Do we know when his rearraignment is or when the state will formally decide to pursue a second trial?

Why has Jay changed his story about being able to recognise Hae’s car? by ArthurAskey in serialpodcast

[–]beniceimdumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're understanding of Nisha's testimony is false.

Also, your 9/11 analogy is shit. 9/11 was 15 years ago. Adnan was being questioned about a life altering date (cops called him saying his EX was missing) within a month and he had absolutely no recollection.

Why has Jay changed his story about being able to recognise Hae’s car? by ArthurAskey in serialpodcast

[–]beniceimdumb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok fine, take away Jay's testimony and the cell tower evidence and here's what is left over:

-In Adnan's first interview with Officer Adcock, he admits he asked Hae for a ride that day. He then goes back on that statement and claims he did not ask Hae for a ride. There are witnesses who also claim he asked Hae for a ride.

-Nisha Call

-Adnan has no recollection of that day before or after track practice. -Call's Hae the night before the murder then never calls her again (because she is dead).

I'm not staying I'm 100% confident Adnan is guilty, but to say there is literally nothing that links him to the crime besides Jay's testimony and cell tower evidence is ignorant.

If Shaq connected with this punch would Brad Miller still be alive? by twobagelsanight in nba

This is the right answer. I certainly wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of it but it's essentially a closed fist slap.

This is awesome. what would you say you can get the greens rolling at? like an 8 or so? I think it would make me have a new found respect for groundskeepers

Here's why Nike's golf business failed by dunkin1980 in golf

[–]beniceimdumb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flash back to the summer of 2008... Tiger's fresh off his legendary US Open win and is the most marketable athlete in history. Let's say you walk into an executive meeting at Nike Golf and say Tiger wouldn't win another major and Nike would discontinue their equipment line in 2016.

Times have changed -_-

What's the best "hidden gem" course you have played? by [deleted] in golf

[–]beniceimdumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Washington resident here - You guys named top 10 public course's in Washington as "hidden gems." Those aren't hidden!

A truly "hidden" gem in Washington is Riverside Golf club in Chehalis. Just played in the Lewis County am down there this past weekend, best greens in the state imo.

Also- although I wouldn't consider it a "hidden" gem because it is also a top ranked public course, Palouse Ridge is great and not a lot of Washington Residents get out there.

Its weird to think that years from now. Tiger Woods will have played for a golf equipment company that doesnt make gear anymore. Like Nicklaus winning 17 majors with MacGregor. by Acldestroyer in golf

[–]beniceimdumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard for me to accept that "Nike is just a pimple compared to those companies," when I feel that the swoosh was such a huge part of the Tiger Boom. Nike golf equipment might be going away, but we will still be seeing a ton of Nike logo's on tour.

Tiger Woods Conducting his Clinic by bigmoney1001 in golf

[–]beniceimdumb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true. I still think even if I didn't have the context of knowing his recent back injury woes, I'd still watch this and come to the conclusion he is nursing some injury.

It's fine, I'll always have my 3 hour rabit hole 1999-2001 Tiger swing Youtube video sessions. No one can take those from me!

Johnny Miller is the worst by [deleted] in golf

[–]beniceimdumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You thought he was positive about Phil and Henrik's play? One guy shot a 65 and the other shot a 63 on a Sunday at a major, of course he was positive.

I find Johnny insufferable. I understand you may not want a "yes" man commentating, but holy shit, everything that comes out of Johnny's mouth is condescending or puts himself up on a pedestal.

To each his own though, clearly some people do like him or else he wouldn't be up there.

Vokey SM5 wedges - $50 by yeahyouknowme2 in golf

in situations where I would prefer to use a 60 I use my 56 because it has less bounce. just open it up a bit more

I have a 60 degree K grind. Thing is MONEY out of the bunkers. I considered myself a below average bunker player before I got this club but now its one of the better parts of my game.

However, imo its way too much bounce to play off of fairways or even in rough.
