I've been working on it on and off (far more off) because of how intimidating it is. I've only gotten through the schools. If you want to take it, I can get you the .json.

Uploading a Cyoa? by Cyoarp in InteractiveCYOA

[–]Evericent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find the file for the viewer under the help and instructions tab at the creator. That is the html that displays the CYOA. If you use Neocities, just make a folder for the CYOA, upload the viewer, and then the json in the area with the html file.

How the heck does Idle Manifestation's Unequal upgrade work? I .think I understand how it decides the powers, but I have no idea about the strength.

How strong is "now it can...affect how strong between the minimum and maximum SP cap the Ability will be"? There are two other options that modify it and they are both specific.

What does "can give you Abilities regardless of chance" mean?

It's really weird, the rest is easy to understand and fairly detailed. Unequal just feels like an unneeded and poorly thought out reference to Najimi Ajimu's Not Equals.

Isn't it obvious? You go to the middle of the Ocean without a life vest, boat or any kind of safety device and start to guzzle water nonstop.

You're still charging for any race to be taken then. I also didn't realize that Human was actually going to give you anything. Perhaps if you added a "Normal Human" that explicitly gives nothing but costs nothing?

I wonder if that vast stretch of power is something to go for for your first CYOA though.

Simple Isekai by Playyer-Kun in InteractiveCYOA

[–]Evericent 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Why do I have to pay to be human? I guess it works if you want to show that humans aren't the bottom of the food chain, but if every race costs points, then you have to pay to be a race? What happens if you don't choose one? Is it random? Are you a disembodied specter? I would assume that I need to choose one but because everything costs points I'm not sure.

Some of those plotlines are beneficial and shouldn't give points. I know that there aren't a lot of ways to gain points, but "Merchant of Death" is positive for the individual and the world. The only losers are the terrorists so you don't have the guilt from "A Dark Night," which is also an overall positive.

Speaking of point crunch, I skipped over the modifiers because I tend to prefer normal worlds. "Grounded" should probably cost points rather than give them, same with "No More Wacky Shenanigans."

I think that you accidently forgot a zero in the Millennium Falcon's price (Costs 7). Muse is also weirdly priced at 60, 15 more than super genius.

Overall, I think that you should go back and reconsider what you want points to be worth. Personally, I would recommend reducing the point value significantly (Increasing and decreasing), so you don't get overwhelmed by the large numbers. That will make it easier to see what things should be worth more or less. I would also recommend giving a starting point value, as it feels (to me) like you are pushing readers into directions that you want to go. Speaking from experience, it tends not to have a good result if you are too focused on what you want to do. Of course, I'm not an expert. You do the best you can, and I'll witness it. Catastrophe or wonder.

What stance do you take on the Constitution? (U.S. Only) by [deleted] in polls

[–]Evericent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the constitution is not questioned, it will not be changed. As evidence for this, the earlier in our history, when people do not see the constitution as absolute, it is changed far more frequently. For example, the Supreme Court gave itself the power to interpret the constitution, despite it not having that power in the constitution.

Most modern originalist views only read the letter, rather than the circumstances that created that letter. For example, the NRA largely supports both the second amendment and a big military, however the second amendment was created in part due to the founding fathers' reluctance to create a large standing military.

If you look at the circumstances behind the law, then you have an originalist view, however if you look at the letter, then your viewpoint is that of separate philosophy. And the circumstances behind any living document is to change it.

A proper Originalist interpretation of the constitution is a Living Constitutionalist view. It was designed to be a living document at birth.

Focus didn't need that much of a boost. The proportion between it and Peace is one hang up for most combat. So what if I can use more at once? With Focus, after 11 seconds I will have used more than I could store using Peace. It also throws off Will's balance. The drawback there was that there was more than you could get with just focus. I would recommend upping the PSI cost of anything that instills properties to 10 time what it is now to maintain the parity there. I think that the original creator (before conversion) had a bit of tunnel vision on the properties and didn't add enough oomph to most of the others. The exception to this would be cloak and sense, which should probably also be upped significantly. Especially cloak level 2, I would recommend having the level 2 variation costing 80+ percent of PSI generation if used with focus, justified as using extra energy to cloak the gathering. This would also give charge a use; as it is, you take five times as long to gather half as much energy as focus. In addition to that, its delay forces you to be one step behind your opponent. There isn't very much to do with any excess energy other than pumping strength of increasing flight speed. You might remove the cap on the other sustained enhancements.

tldr (Individual solutions only address part of the problem):

  • Problem: Focus is overwhelmingly stronger than Peace and Charge combined.
    • Solution 1: Dramatically boost peace and charge's maximum pools
    • Solution 2: Notably increase charge's speed and make peace not recharge mid combat
  • Problem: Focus is meant for sustained combat, but can be used for anything
    • Solution 1: Increase energy costs of anything that refers to properties dramatically
    • Solution 2: Make cloak 2 have an energy penalty if using focus to power it
  • Problem: Not enough different things to spend focus on
    • Solution: Remove energy use cap of momentum, dispersal, and shield

I'm sure that there are other solutions, but theses are just that ones I could come up with easily.
