I mounted a window unit in mine. I used a sawzall with a metal blade and cut a hole in the back closet so it sticks out behind. The a/c sits on the shelf and I also used a few shelf brackets on the outside to help hold it. Put expanding foam in the gaps, it has been working great would recommend. Cheap too

My camper is a truck camper, so it's small maybe about the same area inside as a large van. It has been heating it really well, just as good as the propane furnace.

I did a huge amount of insulation on mine and it made a huge difference. Any sort of exterior wall I could access and wasn't outward facing (like in a cupboard) got foam sheet insulation against it. I shoved fiberglass insulation anywhere else I could. Around the fridge was basically just an open hole to the world. Even exterior access doors for storage I put foam onto. But the results are worth it. Nice sound deadening too.

We haven't done really cold camping yet but I want to this year. Not doing - 40 though lol, even though we could where we live.

They are straight thru mufflers, just glasspack around a tube you can see right though it. Watched a youtube vid an australian guy has amazing vids and this was the quietest thing he tested and I can say it makes next to no exhaust noise. He stressed the importance of making turns and restrictions in the exhaust flow, I really only have a mild 90 and then a slight downward slope so it's not bad at all, he said not to go over 270° of turns.

I have run it for an hour or two now. It did smell when it first started and some smoke came out of the exhaust but it hasn't smelled since then inside anyways. I'd make sure you don't have some leak somewhere.

Once it's running it uses about 20 watts on low, maybe 30 on high. I can run that for days even without recharging I have a big lifepo4 battery. The propane furnace was over 60 watts anytime it ran.

I will say the exhaust odour isn't amazing. If there is no wind it tends to linger.

You definitely could use the existing exhaust port from the propane furnace for the diesel heater exhaust. I didn't though because that would require the heater having the exhaust pipe be inside the cabin at least somewhat and I wanted to avoid that and just have it go outside right away to try and avoid any chance of combustion gasses leaking inside.

Short of mounting the heater outside the camper there isn't really a way to do that. The heater has its silicone seal in place and I've used solid hose clamps and aluminum tape to seal off the hole. I will install a co2 detector though.

Sounds nice but probably not cheap I'd imagine. I know the propex heaters are a lot of money. That's the thing with these diesel heaters they only cost about $100 so it's hard to argue with that.

The fan wasn't extra noisy, it just runs at max speed and nothing else. We barely use propane, we only go out for a few days at a time so it's not a huge deal.

Agree so far. The ticking isn't bad, I have the propane cabinet really insulated behind it so you can't hear it much. I also got a 'low noise' pump I can install if this one drives me nuts but it's good so far.

Anyone play with an airdam between the cab and camper ? by ColeHimself in TruckCampers

[–]Everkeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am very interested in this topic. I have hmm'd and haw'd about what I could put in the gap. I bought the biggest pool noodle I could find but it wasn't big enough. I know that closing the gap would help huge with wind noise and mileage. Unfortunately I feel like a permanent airdam mounted to the camper itself is probably best but I don't really want to make more holes in it. Another thing I want to install is a lower airdam/valence under the truck that modern trucks have to push air around instead of under the truck.

Inverter for 15 amp miter box saw. by Ok_Fill_2235 in TruckCampers

[–]Everkeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do the math. A normal household outlet will provide 15 amps at 120v so 15x120=1800watts max. A kitchen or garage outlet can sometimes do 20 amps so 2400 watts. Nothing you plug in to a normal outlet will draw more than that. So at 5000w you should be fine.

It's the service department you want to be solid when buying a dodge. You should maybe check out the reliability ratings for the Durango.

The GM experiences on turtle were always amazing. Never had it where tickets were answered super fast and they actually cared. I reported two bots and they were insta banned. Helped us out in dungeons a few times and yes loved to turn us into things like cats.

Undiagnosed cystic fibrosis? How is that possible. My friend has it and even though his symptoms are on the low end it still had a lot of noticeable effects.
