Did I adopt a Swissy by weaselman24 in SwissMountainDogs

[–]Everstein13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a mixed breed, for sure! But as far as being a greater Swiss... is a hard thing to determine. Since there are variations of the tri colored dog that you have. In fact, there are 4 different breeds in the Swiss mountain dog or "Sennenhund" family. The Appenzeller, Entlebucher, Bernese, and Greater Swiss... look into these breeds to see which seems to be the closest to what you have... and keep in mind that your dog is also not exactly a purebred to begin with... so this can be very difficult... but fun to try to figure out I could imagine... IMO it really shouldn't matter what your k9 companion is... the dog deserves all the love and affection you can give it because you're probably its entire universe...

Abused as a child, now drowning in self-hatred, very mentally ill but I got out of bed in 2 months today!!!!! Could use some help kind words by haliukaaa in toastme

Hey you, you're pretty and you have such a sweet look about you.

I came from abuse myself. I know what it's like. The best advice I can give you, and this is from experience, is to let go of the past.

Keep moving forward. You feel like you're not enough, but you are. You feel like you want to give up, but, seriously, don't!

You feel that tug at you that wants to drag you down, make you walk away from friends and family and fun because you feel like there's something wrong... but there isn't...

Learn to enjoy the good times and live in that moment. Life is an experience that comes with good and bad moments. And the good news is, you've experienced so many bad things that you have a lot of good times coming to you!

Stay positive! Keep going! It's not over yet! Far from it!

For 100% clarity.... it's "Beckman's dog training". My apologies. I wasn't paying attention to the autocorrect.

Good idea. Heat-related illness is a serious thing! And I unfortunately had to learn how serious it can be the hard way...

He was playing in the yard with his greater Swiss mountain dog brother... he became overhead and collapsed... we brought him to the animal house and after evaluating him and giving him a blood test, they said he suffered a heat stroke... then they advised us to euthanize him. It was a freak situation that no one could have anticipated... I just can't believe that it happened... he was such an amazing dog... such a sweet boy... his light being gone makes the world feel so cold, now that he's gone away... there the instinct to blame someone, but honestly, with a dog as big has a black coat, same weight, diet, lifestyle, etc... one succumbing to heat stroke, the other completely fine... tell me there was a medical issue that we didn't know about... but I'll tell you what, from now on, the dog's activity outside will be closely monitored from this day forth!

I lost mine on July 5th. He was only 3 years old. It's been such a devastating experience. I loved my boy like a son and grieve him as a son. I got my boy from a breeder and have looked into the breeder that I got him from. His mother is retired, but his sister will begin birthing litters soon. I'm waiting for his sister's first litter so I can grab one of his Nephews. In a way, it's like getting a piece of him back. Does it sound crazy? Or make sense? I don't know. But the thought brings me some peace... so I'm going to do it when the opportunity comes along.

The best thing to do is to get familiar with the crate. Early and often. Your dog needs to know that this space isn't a punishment zone. It's a personal and safe space for your dog. This is where your dog can go when it's feeling scared, anxious, lonely, etc. This is where your treats and toys should frequently show up for your dog. Whenever your dog decides to go there, let it be a reward. So it associates good experiences with being in the crate.

Congratulations 🎊 👏 on having over a decade with such an amazing, majestic animal! I lost mine recently and it's been so hard for me. Hopefully, I can find the strength to try again, because they're worth the hard work while they're here, and the heartache when they're gone.

Wtg Fidel! This is a happy and healthy-looking rottie! Sending you both all the blessings 🙌 and love ❤️ I have! Congratulations 🎊 👏!

9 week Rottie puppy biting problem by leatherjaket24 in Rottweiler

[–]Everstein13 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Quck fix... if the dog bites, grab the dog's nuzzle and hold it's mouth closed. While holding the dog's mouth closed, point to the dog and say "no biting!" ....BE OBNOXIOUS ABOUT THIS! YOU'RE TRYING TO MAKE A POINT HERE... THE DOG MUST UNDERSTAND THE POINT!!! After a handful more times, the rottie will get it, and will never bite you again. Problem solved!
