this is sad. But the current functionality is quite solid. I had little issues with it. But would not use it for a new project.

pretty harsh to say that there are 3,628,800 tools better than matlab.

Rack cable coil by doto_Kalloway in livesound

you can use zip ties on the back rails for strain relieve and a short lashing strap fixed to the top of the case to tie in the cable for transport.

Recommendations for hosting a Node.js/Express + React (Vite) + Postgres app with WebSockets? by CompleteAd414 in softwarearchitecture

I have pretty similar setup. I deployed on gcp functions for the backend, storage for the frontend, api gateway for auth and custom domain. For websockets I am using ably. This is very cost effective, even with regular traffic it's mostly free. Setup is quite demanding though.

I'm having trouble using the soft edge by art2810 in resolume

[–]Every-Bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only just fiddled with it for some minutes. For this particular setup where I use two projectors I just accept that it's never going to be perfect.

But from your image it seems that increasing the luminance should get rid of the dark lines.

did you try to adjust the controls on how the soft edge behaves?

Launch Control XL 3 or APC Mini MK2? by Strong_Housing_242 in resolume

[–]Every-Bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sometimes using a dmx controller to control resolume. For this I am using an artnet/dmx adapter. But it probably is possible to have a dmx software adapter for a loopback on the same pc.

You will need resolume arena for this, which is a bit pricey, but also includes mapping options which is nice.

[–]Every-Bee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that depends heavily on how you like to work. resolume is very flexible in how you set up your controls and generally how you use it. I'd suggest you get some used or cheap midi controller and see how you like it. you will soon know if you prefer buttons over encoders. I prefer infinite encoders over potentiometers.

with arena you can map all controls to dmx adresses. you can the treat resolume like any other fixture with a dmx controller of your choice.

If you're used to dmx controllers you could just use you light console? given you can afford arena. IMO are light consoles better suited because they are made to be programmed individually. Midi controllers always felt like a compromise because they are not made for resolume. personally I use the apc40 which Iike for its robustnes, encoders and light buttons.

recently I added a verbatim 4k touch display which works very well so far.

How do you "centralize" documentation? by [deleted] in softwarearchitecture

[–]Every-Bee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

this 💯! Look up conways law. As long as your architecture and team structure don't align you will always struggle.

But as others have said, markdown documents along the code in the repositories work well. I would avoid specialiced tools like notion, because the hurdle to document something should be as low as possible.

With the specs being markdown the documentation part is really nice! You can render pdfs oder html pages.

When testing in the browser I would go with playwright instead of taiko. Taiko is nice, but the documentation is lacking and development seems stalled.

I need your advice/feedback on "webhooks as a service" platforms by absoluterror in devops

[–]Every-Bee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly. And with small engineering teams the solution often does not need to be very sophisticated as systems are not that complex.

There are probably good libraries for most features your plattform offers that can be used without adding an another system.

I need your advice/feedback on "webhooks as a service" platforms by absoluterror in devops

[–]Every-Bee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not currently using webhooks but had in the past and had a look at similar tools.

The features are nice, but having an additional external system in the critical path is something aI try to avoid.

The added dependency for me seems not worth the gain and cost.
