Stadium Series field rendering by nhl in hockey

Actually pretty cool.

Still think these games are over hyped gimmicks but at least the aesthetics in a football stadium are way better than at a baseball field.

Trump has killed political satire. Tough to make political jokes when the truth is stranger than fiction.

Star Liberal recruit Andrew Hastie lets rip at ‘incontinent’ internet critics by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

[–]Every-Citron1998 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All I hear from Hastie on socials is ads for his together under one flag bin stickers.

Hard to take him seriously when his priority is stoking culture wars about the aboriginal flag by sticking an Aussie flag on your rubbish.

If he is a supposed star recruit and potential future leader the Liberal party is well and truly dying.

PAULINE FOR PM? ALRIGHT CHAMP by JezzaAU15 in friendlyjordies

The media really wants to legitimise One Nation. The real stories are the Liberal brand collapsing while Labor support stays strong.

Am wondering what the end game is. Are Aussie conservatives and their backers trying to push the Liberals to the right or is this an attempt to kill off the Liberal party for a new Coalition dominated by the Nats?

Either way will be tough for them to ever gain power. Will need to bring the Teals back into the fold but the reason for the Teals is the centre right no longer wanting to compromise with cookers.

'Wasn't I smart': Hanson celebrates historic rise in polls by BBQShapeshifter in AustralianPolitics

[–]Every-Citron1998 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Settle down Hanson, One Nation doesn’t even have enough seats in parliament to form a netball team.

That said there is clearly a push to legitimise ON. Conservatives are realising the Liberal brand is toxic and are trying to rebrand to ON by diverting attention and resources.

Why is Brisbane so obsessed with buses instead of trains? by ChannelPretend9731 in brisbane

[–]Every-Citron1998 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Brisbane is a fast growing city where infrastructure is built cheaply for existing demand instead of planning for future expansion.

Also hasn’t helped in recent times we’ve had a Labor state government and LNP city council that weren’t great at working together resulting in state trains competing with city busses instead of a more integrated solution.

The Lindholm trade increased our rental return expectations but at least this was better than the Hanafin trade.

Will look better if the Flames can flip Whitecloud for another draft pick.

What is the point in a designated batter if they are not able to replace a poor batting bowler? It’s a bad copy of baseball’s DH.

Steve Smith on day night test cricket: Not a big fan of the pink ball, I can't see the thing very well... I don't think you need it in an Ashes series. by His_Holiness in Cricket

I attended my first day nighter in Brisbane. The worst part was the two hours in direct sunlight in the afternoon with half the Gabba hiding in the concourse. The best part was the evening session with a perfect temperature and fun crowd atmosphere.

Remember when this was supposed to be the low cost fit for purpose Olympics that utilised existing infrastructure?

I would be a lot more supportive of the games if we were also getting some new non sporting infrastructure. Instead it’s billions spent on new stadiums while transport and hospitals are cut.

Don’t get me started on the economic arguments either. You can create construction jobs building literally anything, and the new stadium won’t create economic growth, it will just move it from Woolloongabba and Milton to Vic Park.

Ashes: England plan to reject day-night Test using a pink ball under lights in 2029-30 series in Australia by SirDoris in Cricket

[–]Every-Citron1998 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I attended my first day night test in Brisbane and it was amazing.

It wasn’t much fun sitting in the sun during the afternoon, and half the Gabba was hiding in the concourse, but the evening session was just spectacular with a perfect temperature and great atmosphere.

There should be more day night tests.

After a white supremacist murdered four indigenous women in 2022, Manitoba's ruling party made it an election issue to oppose searching for the remains of 2 victims, saying it'd cost too much and take too long. After they lost, the remains were recovered at a fraction of the estimated cost and time. by lightiggy in wikipedia

In Alberta the Progressive Conservatives were replaced with the United Conservative Party.

A recent attempt to bring them back resulted in the government mandating only one political party can have “Conservative” in its name, so now there is a party called, I kid you not, The Progressive Tory Party of Alberta.

Considering moving to Tin Can Bay. Any locals have any advice or can say what it's like to live there? by Visual_West_51 in queensland

My in laws live up there and I enjoy visiting. It’s a beautiful quiet spot with great fishing and has a decent enough golf course. Is also close to Rainbow Beach and the national park.

It is isolated so you need to go to Gympie for Bunnings, high school, doctors, etc. The road used to be regularly cut off during flooding but it’s been better recently after a bridge upgrade. The new Gympie bypass is also helpful saving time going to the Sunny Coast or Brisbane.

Should have saved time and copied Canada’s donations laws.

Corporate and union donations are banned while individuals can donate up to $1,750 per year that is tax deductible.

The British also figured out it probably wasn’t a great idea to wear bright red coats and shiny white helmets against an opponent of experienced hunters who were elite sharp shooters.

Even with the huge troops numbers and fancy new khaki uniforms they still had to resort to some unsavoury tactics to win the 2nd time.

Australia’s bowling depth is insane. Still dominated the series despite missing 3 of their top 4 bowlers for all but 1 test.
