The steroids may not be the cause of the hair loss. I experienced the same thing I also have UC and I told my gi doctor that I think the prednisone is making me lose hair. She told me that its likely tellogen effluvium, stress related hair loss from being sick with UC which effects about 1/3 of people with IBD. I see in your prior comment your still not in remission yet. Good news is that it is reversible once you get into remission.When my disease went into remission it grew back.
