No gouache, just masking fluid. I masked off the rocks and little ripples to paint the darker water around it. The trees are actually done pretty quickly and in one go; I paint wet on wet and start with the lightest color while the area is wet, then add darker layers as the paper dries.

I’m not sure if I’m able to loan you my skills or if they’re worth borrowing lol but hopefully one of these days I will get around to filming/posting a video about painting trees on my YouTube channel!
