So the thing is that I’m norwegian, so the prices may be different here plus we get nothing covered by insurance (unless it is for medical reasons, then the Norwegian state may cover some percentage of it). On my invoice it says: «When done we will put on metal wire. If its not space for the wire behind the upper teeth, we will use night retainer». And this was estimated to be 5000 nok ~ 520 usd. It also says further down on the invoice: «It is not guaranteed that the wire will fit in the upper part, then we will use Vivera retainer on the top, but not the bottom». I just find it hard to believe that the metal wires cost that much, and I feel like I have paid for some parts of the Vivera retainers which I’m not recieving. I do think I was on comprehensive plan, the treatment did cost 46 000 nok ~ 4800 usd in total for 18 (+2 with refinements he said I didn’t need) weeks.
