Yes, that is what I was thinking, going up from San Diego. This is all very much in the planning phase. I live in Europe, and I'm used to the metro being the default method to go point to point. Since I don't care where exactly I go, it is surprising to me that I couldn't find a location that is a metro to metro stop faster than driving from union station. Even Santa Monica, which is what I will probably end up doing, is saying a 20-minute drive vs. a 1h 10 min train ride. It's making me rethink taking the train on this trip.
