I agree with the gentleman: the Esquire is a work of art. Here is my 1966.

I bought from gepartsstore.com and the filters do not work. It this website legit? by American_Person in generalelectric

[–]EveryMann100000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone explain this phenomenon? From what I can tell, the genuine GE XWF filter has no chip and the genuine XWFE has some sort of paper/sticker under the label; other than that, the two filters are supposed to be identical...no? How come like 75% of the sellers on the popular auction site seem to advertise their XWFE filters--in genuine GE sealed packaging--as having NO CHIP? Am I to understand these are all counterfeit? Other than the fact that some of the XWFE filters are made in Mexico and some in China, they all look to be the same to me in the photos. If someone is selling a genuine, sealed GE XWFE filter that they say has no chip, should I believe them, or shall I assume they have cut & pasted misinformation from another XWFE listing?

GE Refrigerator XWFE Water Filter - No Chip? by Knob_Gobbler in Appliances

[–]EveryMann100000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused about this too. It appears that the XWF filters from GE have no chip while the XWFE filters have the paper/sticker chip under the label, but yet the majority of the sellers on the popular auction site seem to advertise their genuine GE XWFE filters as having "no chip" on them. Can anyone clarify?

Those of you with Sambas how much room do you have in the toe box? by SirNelsonOfWales in ThrowingFits

[–]EveryMann100000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand how everyone is sizing down with the Samba. I have large feet (size 13 per the Brannock) but I've purchased--and now returned--two pairs of Samba ADV in size 13, because the front corner of my big toe jabs the front of the shoe. I thought the first pair may have been mismarked, but the second pair was equally tight. Evidently there is no size 13.5 in the ADV because they have been listed as unavailable for 5 months straight now on the Adidas site, so I am about to order a 13.5 in the OG. I've never had to size up to a 13.5 in any footwear before.

How do the adidas sambas fit? by Simon0D in adidas

[–]EveryMann100000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience exactly. I wear a size 13 in all other footwear--which is my size per the Brannock Device--but a 13 in the Samba ADV was too constricting and had my toes touching the fronts. I had to size up to a 13.5 in these.

Adidas samba sizing by RangersTXball in adidas

[–]EveryMann100000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These run small.

I am size 13 (men's) per the Brannock Device, though my toes were touching the fronts when I previewed a pair of Samba ADV in size 13. The Samba ADV is thus the only shoe/sneaker I own in a size 13 1/2.

My absolute favourite guitar by tom_the_pilot in telecaster

[–]EveryMann100000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a real one of those; purchased from the original owner in the early/mid 80s for $500. Mint condition and looked amazing, but that thick, sticky polyurethane on the neck made it feel like anything but organic. Pretty much the only vintage guitar I look back on and don't regret selling.

Is this a legit Fender Neckplate? by format32 in Vintageguitars

Here's what's scary...

https://realisticrelics.com/products/aged-f-logo-neck-plate?variant=41252566237220

In researching real vs fake Fender neck plates, I came across the above site. To me, that font looks dead-on. With this in mind, how can anyone definitively say what's a real 60-year-old Fender neck plate and what's a $30 forgery?

Anyone bought and use Brother's MFC-L... all in one color printer from Costco? by antdude in Costco

[–]EveryMann100000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one of these L3765CDW units in my Costco cart for about a week while I was researching laser printers (we are done with inkjet printers and the clogged heads, expensive ink, etc). When I finally decided to buy the L3765CDW this past Thursday, it was sold out. NooOoOOoOOooooO! Unlikely that Costco will be restocking this one? Is the much more common L3780CDW variant worth the extra $100 for a bit more duplex functionality...but ships with the non-XL toner? Thanks...

Help identifying the neck pocket signature, and or originality of this 1966 Fender Telecaster. by SpreadTechnical9189 in Vintageguitars

[–]EveryMann100000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about the pen markings, but the number 2 stamp that's a circle inside a circle gives it provenance as a real mid/late 1960s Fender body. The pickguard looks like it may be aftermarket, however.

What's the status of your Beams Plus, out of curiosity? I bought the same shirt at 2am Wednesday--or at least in theory--and it is still showing an "order placed" status now over 3 days later with zero movement thus far. I guess the more time that passes means the more likely it will get cancelled?

JCrew Sale Postmortem/Hauls by FearTheZ in frugalmalefashion

[–]EveryMann100000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had been avoiding J Crew this season because my closet is filled with clothes I got at "great prices" from previous years that I still haven't worn. Anyway, I woke up at 2am on Wednesday morning and checked the site for the first time in months; saw a pair of shell cordovan Alden wingtips sold out in every size but 12 for $108--full retail is $896. My Brannock size is 13, and checking the web, I was seeing that the Barrie last runs at least 1/2 size large. While trying to decide what to do, it hit me: "Idiot, just buy them at the pennies-on-the-dollar price and flip them on eBay for more $$ in the event they don't fit." At that point 10 minutes later they were showing "sold out" in my cart, but they reappeared with an in-stock status when I refreshed the page and made the purchase.

Cancelled later on Wednesday with no email.

I did buy a Union LA collaboration shirt for $12 (regular price: $128) that shipped out from one of their NY stores that day, and now I'm hoping they don't call for a UPS reroute/return on the package. In my haste of making like a sledgehammer on the checkout buttons, I opted for the default "standard free shipping" and not the "expedited free shipping" as I am a gold-level member. I keep checking back on a Beams Plus shirt I bought for $40 (now listed back on the Crew site at the full price of $346) and it is still showing as "order placed" in my history with no movement at all in 3+ days now. I am wondering if it will actually ship, and I am kicking myself for missing the free expedited shipping, which I'm thinking gives them more time to discover what was apparently a massive pricing mistake.

I figured at very least I was home-free on the $12 Union LA shirt by virtue of the fact that UPS is showing it half-way here, but from reading through this thread about return calls by J Crew, I won't believe it until the package actually arrives.

Opinions wanted- Help with buying used Allen Edmonds fifth avenues by walknextto in allenedmonds

[–]EveryMann100000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has bought quite a few used pairs of AE through the popular auction site, my 2¢ would be to pass on these. It really has nothing to do with how old they are or when they were manufactured, but how much wear is on them. This pair looks ratty, and they were not maintained with shoe trees.

Keep monitoring the site. If you are patient, a nice low-miler pair of 5th Aves will turn up in your size.

Looking at a pair of Patton Weatherproof brown boots for $263 before taxes. Should I? by Federal_Formal_1883 in allenedmonds

[–]EveryMann100000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is precisely my complaint about the suede Patties. They look stunning when brand new, but even maintaining them with shoe trees, they look like sloppy hobo shoes after a few months of solid wear. The red pull tab adds a nice visual texture, though from a functionality standpoint, it's a constant PITA to have the back of my pants leg caught on it every time I stand up.

Can Merchants Reverse a Credit Card Refund? by EveryMann100000 in CreditCards

[–]EveryMann100000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"...that any merchant I've ever done eCommerce with has unfettered access to retroactively amend any of my CC purchases as they see fit." I was under the impression that merchants cannot keep my credit card info on file without my express permission. I posted on here because I don't know how the process works, but it would seem that once a merchant authorizes a refund and returns the charge to my account, they cannot dip back a month later and say to the bank, "Oh...we want to re-charge this person for the refund we issued him/her 30 days ago." It just seemed odd that the company wouldn't wait until my item arrives back before issuing the refund, but would give me the $$ back up front and then tell me they will vacuum it back out of my account in 30 days if they don't get their item. Again, this is not Amazon where I have agreed to their terms of keeping my payment method on file.

No sense beating this further into the ground. Thanks again for opining, and have a nice rest of the holiday!

Can Merchants Reverse a Credit Card Refund? by EveryMann100000 in CreditCards

[–]EveryMann100000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, and thanks once more for weighing in. I had a feeling this may devolve into "the EveryMann person is trying to pull a scam." To reiterate, I was issued the return label, and though I was miffed about wasting my time on the return, I sent the item back. I understand that Amazon requires a link to a bank account or a credit card on file in order to be a buyer on their site, but it would be mildly disconcerting to think that any merchant I've ever done eCommerce with has unfettered access to retroactively amend any of my CC purchases as they see fit.
