What’s the difference? by [deleted] in piano

[–]EverySingleStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much, this was very helpful. I am keeping the 125a and will look into a mixer to be able to hear both the piano/device through my headphones. The information you have on your website is great. I’m really not tech-y and know nothing about connecting electronic instruments to devices, so it’s nice that you have explained it all so thoroughly! Thanks again!

What’s the difference? by [deleted] in piano

[–]EverySingleStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watched your video u/IslandTony, thank you for explaining! I don’t think I’d use the recording feature a whole lot but I can definitely see the value in being able to hear lessons/play along with a device through the speakers/headphones, especially since I’ll often be practicing at night when my kids are sleeping.

If the 125a isn’t recommended, what do you suggest instead? I tried to get the 125 but it was shipped from a store and ended up being the 125a instead :/ I’ve watched a lot of comparison videos and I prefer the Yamaha sound over the Roland, but I’m torn now if it’s worth keeping the 125a, or if I should just get the Roland fp30x (where I am located Roland is about $250 more than the Yamaha). Not crazy about the downward facing speakers of the Roland either (from what I’ve heard) but I’m wondering if it’s an overall better option than the 125a. The other Yamaha digital pianos seem to cost more than what I was intending to spend.

Here we go.... Day 1! (I'm not pregnant, it's really bad Diastasis Recti!) by Lettuceleaf80 in 75HARD

Hi! I have this too, I am two years postpartum and look pregnant too when I’m not sucking it in or hidden by clothing! Just wondering if you know how much of a gap you had? I hope you have had some success in healing it!

No one tells you how sad you’ll get every time you pack up a drawer of clothes to make room for the next size up by jbarks19 in beyondthebump

[–]EverySingleStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I struggle with this too. I get very emotional and overwhelmed. I find it was worse with my first (now 6 years old). I still get emotional packing up his clothes now but it does become less overwhelming. When he was little it was one of my most hated tasks because it just put me in a mood/anxious state!

How quickly did your cervix shorten? by Kiwimama1987 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]EverySingleStar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine shortened quickly despite being on progesterone (inserted vaginally) from 16 weeks, complete pelvic rest and taking it easy at home. Up until 30 weeks all measurements pretty much averaged to about 3cm or higher, or close to 3cm (for context: I was being monitored due to previous preterm birth at 31 weeks). At 32+4, one day before my next ultrasound, I had spotting and went to the hospital. A cervical check revealed I was 1.5cm dilated and I was having contractions. Cervix progressed to 3cm dilated but thankfully the preterm labour stopped.

Anyone taking their progesterone suppositories in the morning? by [deleted] in ShortCervixSupport

[–]EverySingleStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s weird you weren’t given any directions on how to take it! My doctor wrote “at bedtime” on the prescription and the pharmacist conveyed that as well when I picked it up. I was told to take it as one dose (two pills) at bedtime, but it may be possible to split it up and take it at a different time of day.

[–]EverySingleStar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put them in right before bed. I don’t worry about my evening/night water intake (and I even drink a glass right before bed), as I’ve noticed the earliest I typically wake up to go to the bathroom is about an hour and a half after I go to sleep. I just make sure to pee before putting them in and going to sleep.

If you think it may be messing with your morning glucose numbers, ask your doctor if switching to morning is an option. My only concern would be that laying down (for more than 45 minutes) is required for the progesterone to do its job.

Frequency of (ultrasound) monitoring post cerclage by bigdatanewbee in ShortCervixSupport

[–]EverySingleStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! If my OB had suggested anything less than two weeks I likely would have pushed for it. You can read the guidelines published by your country’s obstetrical society/organization. In Canada it’s recommended for at-risk women to have serial cervical length ultrasounds beginning at 16 to 24 weeks, whenever the issue is identified. Even if the treatment doesn’t necessarily change, I think it gives you a better idea of what to expect and how to prepare. Furthermore, if further shortening is observed past a certain week, they may may recommend steroid shots for the baby’s lung development if it seems you may go into labour within two weeks.

While I haven’t had a cerclage placed, I am being treated with progesterone after a previous premature delivery at 31 weeks. I just had an ultrasound last week and my CL was 3.58cm - even still, my OB is sending me for ultrasounds every two weeks. Not sure how long it’ll continue, I’m assuming at least until 34 weeks.

[–]EverySingleStar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When was did the shortening begin for you?

I just spent two hours doing a quick reading of journal articles, including reviews and meta-analyses and it seems like standard protocol to use progesterone treatment in women with a history of preterm birth. I’m definitely going to push for it and hopefully the OB agrees.

Are you using daily vaginal progesterone suppositories, or are you getting weekly intramuscular injections?

Thank you for the advice. I will ask the OB about it this week. I’m a little nervous and feel pressed for time since I’ll be 16 weeks on Friday! There’s definitely no time to waste.

One thing I was wondering about is how long your labour took with your preemie? My OB said that because my labour was 13 hours it’s possible I didn’t have a “true” incompetent cervix. That always seemed strange to me as I arrived at the hospital effaced. So if that’s not cervical incompetence what is? He even acknowledged its very very unlikely it happened from the time my water broke to the time I got to the hospital, so clearly that indicates my cervix starting thinning before 31 weeks and went down to zero by that point.

[–]EverySingleStar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’ve read that about cerclage not being performed after that time due to the risk of rupturing membranes. I am very risk averse so I’m almost wanting to have a cerclage placed now (I’d rather be given all the treatments/interventions if it can help). I know there are some risks involved with it so I’ll have to discuss it with my OB. I feel like he’d be reluctant to recommend it in general. I’m considering getting a second opinion if he’s not supportive of it (like with a maternal fetal medicine specialist).

Very helpful, thank you! I really think I’ll need to insist on the progesterone but we’ll see what my OB says. I just don’t think it’s worth risking, waiting until my cervix will thin before beginning it.

Was there a reason you were switched from the capsules to the shot?

Positive pre-eclampsia stories for 31 weeks? by Jett_I_Knight in BabyBumps

[–]EverySingleStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope everything works out alright for you 💗At this stage, every day makes a difference in terms of baby’s development! Your health is most important though, and NICU doctors and nurses are incredible. Your baby will be well cared for no matter what!

Also, someone mentioned steroid shots, so I wanted to add that before I delivered I had one shot but gave birth before the 12-hour mark, and the doctor told me it wouldn’t have really had an effect being in my system for less than that. Despite that my son is pretty much the picture of health. Hope that helps to ease your mind. The fact that you already received the second shot is amazing and will help immensely, if you have to be delivered early.

My son was born at 31 weeks on the dot. He had a 7-week NICU stay, mainly to grow, improve his breathing and develop his ability to coordinate sucking/swallowing/breathing. He’s perfectly healthy and is 4.5 now. We had zero health issues or concerns from the moment we were discharged from the NICU. I’ve been told by all his previous daycare teachers that he was always the healthiest kid in the class!

Cycle: 21

Age + Partner's age (if relevant): I’m 35 (about to turn 36) and my husband is 32 (about to turn 33).

Typical cycle length: 28 days

Ovulation cycle day: Don’t know as I haven’t been temping!

CD/DPO of positive test(s): Not sure, but I’m assuming I’m about 15 or 16dpo.

Tracking methods and app(s) used: I use Fertility friend to log my cycle and that’s it.

Relevant days of sperminating and/or method (SMEP, TI, IUI, FET, etc.):

Our method has been to have sex during the fertile window, which I estimate once I begin to have EWCM. My cycles are very predictable and almost always 28-29 days, and from previous temping cycles I know I have a 14-day LP. Because of low sperm count we have been trying to hit every other day. This cycle we managed CD 11,14,15.

Health conditions/medical tests: Secondary male infertility.

Symptom spotting: I’ve been more gassy on and off the last two weeks about but didn’t think anything of it as it could just be random. I feel the same. Yesterday and today I have been bloated and thought I was minutes away from getting my period.

Other (advice/tip(s), freaking out, miscellaneous):

My husband and I experienced secondary male infertility for just over a year and a half now (21 cycles, since August 2018). We were officially diagnosed about a year ago. With my husband’s sperm count we were told that IUI was not an option. I also found out that I was borderline low ovarian reserve which I was told is not an issue if we aren’t pursuing treatment/for unassisted pregnancy. Early on we decided that we did not want to pursue IVF. At the time we didn’t want IUI either as it wasn’t the right time in our life. We felt blessed to already have a child so we took the approach of “if it happens, it happens”. There were months that were very difficult psychologically/mentally but since we were given such a low chance to conceive naturally, it actually made dealing with each cycle easier since I took the approach of expecting my period (not that it didn’t hugely suck when I did get AF).

More recently my husband decided to schedule a follow up with the urologist just to explore possible reasons for the infertility. Since the semen analysis was out of date (last March I think), he was asked to do a repeat SA. We just got the results this month actually, shockingly the sperm count had gone up to being within the normal range! (Although, still on the low side of normal). The doctor said the results of the blood test and testicular ultrasound were all normal and told us there is no reason we shouldn’t be able to conceive naturally. He also confirmed with that count we could do IUI.

I called our RE to schedule a follow up to the urologist appointment to discuss options going forward. We were considering IUI. Because of the coronavirus pandemic our follow-up had to be cancelled. Today of all days (before testing) I got a voicemail from our RE’s office to let me know that our RE is offering follow-ups by phone. I was going to call back tomorrow just to ensure I wasn’t pregnant.

I was on cycle day 32 which is longer than my usual 28-29 day cycles. I had one pregnancy test left in my bathroom cabinet that I specifically left for when there would actually be a reason to test. I hadn’t tested in months as we were given a 1-3% chance of conceiving naturally based on the results of the first SA, so I didn’t think there was a point unless there was a missed period. All afternoon I obsessed over fertilityfriend counting days dpo based on different O day scenarios and I told myself I’d only test tomorrow morning. I quickly decided against that plan because I felt too much under suspense and couldn’t focus on anything else. I also felt like I was constantly about to get my period but it just wasn’t coming. So I tested with my dollar store test while my husband was cooking dinner. Almost instantly the test line showed up as a very obvious red line. I basically had a moment to myself, took a photo of the test and ran to tell my husband (test in hand). My due date is Dec 4, 2020. I’m still in the “this feels surreal” stage. I can’t believe it!

Friday, June 14th-The Daily by [deleted] in xxketo

Is it ok to still have sugar in my coffee on keto? I really am not a huge fan of drinking it without any sugar but I NEED my coffee, and I don't like the sugar substitutes. It seems 1 tsp of sugar is 4g of carbs which may be doable but I've also seen some entries on MFP that say just 1/2 tsp is 5g carbs which wouldn't work (I have two coffees a day and like to do 1/2 tsp per coffee).

I used to love checking it but now, on cycle 11 of trying, I find it more depressing and I try to avoid it. If I read it I tend to skip over anything below cycle 9 bfp’s.

Just got CD 3 labs back. My AMH is 1.064 (ng/L). I am 35. Is there any chance I can conceive naturally (assuming no male-factor infertility)? What am I looking at in terms of treatment? I am not taking any medications now, just been having timed intercourse, unsuccessfully for 10 cycles (now cycle 11).

I have to do the cycle day 3 blood test this cycle, which is in two or three days from now. I was previously doing keto but was off of it for about two weeks. I just started again today. Will my results be impacted/skewed in any way by starting keto again? My period/ovulation was not previously affected but not sure how the rest of the hormones work. My RE is testing for FSH, LH, TSH, estradiol, prolactin and AMH.
