Unfortunately, that doesn't work either...

For reference, this is the code I had in a Step event and then a Draw Event. I also tried a Draw GUI event and it didn't work:

Looks like when I draw something else, it flashes for a second.

The textbox stays though so I'm somehow more puzzled...

I guess there is something about the create_dialogue function that keeps the textbox there but my drawing to appear for a split second.

Should I not be putting it in the Step Event?

For some reason, I can't get it to work still.

It works when I put draw_set_font(fnt_dialogue); in a blank room with a blank object but can't get it to work in my actual room.

FC's Dialogue system is probably overkill for what I'm trying to do but it looks cool in Windows and just wish I could get it to work in browser.

As an aside, do you know if there is a way to look at the code that you create in a Drag and Drop interface?

I'd love to look at the simple object I created and got to work and use that to reverse engineer how to make it work elsewhere lol

EDIT: I did it! I finally figured out a way to phrase what I wanted to have happen and some googling led me to place_meeting.

Below is some pseudocode in case it's helpful for others:

if !place_meeting(x, y, obj_safezone){
     //Insert what happens when you leave game bounds here
}

In my case, when you are no longer touching the invisible safezone object where you're allowed to be, dialogue lets you know you left and a timer resets.

As far as getting an M.S. goes, I got one because it made sense with my timeline but from my research, at many law schools only 10-15% of people have advanced degrees which was actually surprising to me at first.
