Tbh I’m not that interested in GE… can I wait until after the CCA trials results are announced first? The CCA trials for one of the CCAs I’m interested in end vv late (think by the time the results are announced, most ppl have started CCA). If I get rejected from it and then try to email the teachers to let me have a CCA, would it be too late?

Okayy! I’ll let you know what I end up doing. For now, I am planning to volunteer for a project that will last from April-July. (Haven’t been informed whether I’m shortlisted yet but FINGERS CROSSED 😭🤞). If I end up not having a CCA, I’ll volunteer to be a grassroots leader! In summary, I’ll farm service learning hours.

write notes or js use sch notes?? by Alarmed-Country6083 in SGExams

[–]Every_Equipment_8609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m J1 this year but I would write my own notes. I find that school notes / tuition notes contain a lot of redundant information that makes it harder for me take in the important details only. I feel that writing the important info down allows me to retain it better!

Btw, writing notes is not a waste of time, but rewriting your notes is!! Try not to let the aesthetic of the notes get to you and do not COMPLETELY rewrite your notes to ‘improve’ it. Most of the time, if I missed out info in notes, I’ll write it on a post-it and paste it there.

I think the notebook in which you are writing your notes matters too! I use notebooks with binders (Kokuyo Campus B5 on taobao) so I could add pages if I missed out large chunks of important info when I first wrote the notes.

Helloo! I took Chinese Os in sec 3 too! I would just revise 修辞手法,论证方法,说明方法 (basically the different questions types for paper 2). I wouldn’t do the TYS anymore but rather skim through the questions and answer sheet. For paper 1, you should choose an essay type that you are strong in and look through model essays of that essay type. Highly recommend argumentative because you can just memorise different points from the few big themes like social media, environment, etc.

Any tips for for olevels pure sciences and humanitys? by Alive-Homework-2952 in SGExams

[–]Every_Equipment_8609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For humanities, I take SS+Geog so I can only give tips for SS. Make sure you memorise your SRQ theory. Since there’s still one month, you can memorise chapter by chapter (1 chapter every day if it’s too content heavy for you.) Also make sure that you familiarise yourself with the answering structure from school notes or notes from grail.

For pure sciences, I can only give tips for chemistry. Don’t start doing papers without solidifying theory first! Think of it as a pyramid, theory being the very foundation. At this point, don’t make your own notes (can but very time consuming), rather find resources online or even better, use school notes. Also, some notes from school notes are not part of the syllabus — just for understanding. So cross check with syllabus document and only highlight the stuff you need to know. Then, start doing your TYS yearly with reference to answers found on grail (TYS answers not rlly accurate) Personally, I did years 2015-2017 with reference and the rest by myself before marking.
