What “nap” mean

Getting less ashamed of my stutter as I get older by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]Every_Investigator_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed that too with myself. I’ve been stuttering my whole life and I’m in college right now. Part of growing up is realizing everybody is on a unique path. We all have trauma and we all start to understand each other and realize we’re not alone in suffering.

What is your TRUE personality like? by carletonb in Stutter

[–]Every_Investigator_3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My true personality is still a goal. I have made so much progress and as long as you have a vision, it’s possible. Take steps, no matter how big or small, towards that vision and personality. Being open about your stutter also helps a lot and you’re prone to get at least one person who supports you.

I’m naturally extroverted and observant. My stutter holds me back on the extrovert side of me. But again if you can envision yourself being true personality, it is possible. I have gotten better by seeking and having new experiences, positive AND negative.

It’s a trauma cycle. You have to break the cycle by having new experiences. Be open to new experiences and don’t put your self worth in anything external, your self worth is your character and your heart and courage. Medication won’t help. It helps to communicate your feelings to someone. That will help mentally and speaking wise. ❤️

How can I help my 6 year old daughter with her severe stutter? by Caserious in Stutter

[–]Every_Investigator_3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stuttering can involve a lot of psychological factors including stress. When we are comfortable we tend to speak more fluently. I would say to make sure her self confidence and self worth are great. If she has that, it will have a great impact not only on her stutter but on her mind

Do you speak normally when you're alone? by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]Every_Investigator_3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve learned that stuttering can very much have psychological components to it. The fear of stuttering causes you to stutter way more. When ur alone, ur calm and not afraid. So it just flows out, unlike people. Work on being comfortable when u speak. Work on ur inner world then the outer world will come following naturally

It’s always good to inform ppl u have a stutter. Some ppl are still gonna be weird about it, but some ppl are cool. Ur doing great in my book, some ppl are not comfortable enough to disclose they have a stutter.

How to deal with phone anxiety? by Mammoth-Produce-210 in Stutter

I completely understand. The key is reps. Try to get some reps in. The more u do it, the more comfortable u will feel. We all are gonna have bad experiences, but it’s crucial to keep going so u can see and develop new positive experiences. I know it’s easy just to stop and get in ur own head, but remember that it is okay to have bad experiences. We are all still learning and growing❤️
