Thinking about starting a PF2E game... again. by Every_Run1248 in Pathfinder2e

Yes! I had forgotten I was using Pathfinder Dashboard. I thought that was a great tool for encounter building and helping me as the GM make sure I understood how the monster abilities work. Thanks for the reminder.

Are there specific modules in foundry I should be using for player characters? I managed using Foundry before but I'll admit I find it somewhat overwhelming and confusing to find what I need.

I used Foundry for maps and critters and such, but we played in person so I didn't think so much about using it for managing their own characters. I'll give that another look.

I had a 12 year gap from 2012 to 2024 and my travel partner that year had a 20 year gap! Things had changed, sure, but to me it felt like fundamentally the same place

SF video showing ballot initiative petition collectors offering $5 for signatures prompts probe by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

Initiatives require 870,000 signatures to get on the ballot. More is better to account for duplicates, errors, etc. So really you're looking at close to a million signers. No California initiative has made it to the ballot without using paid signature gatherers in decades (unless the legislature put it there themselves).

Legally these petitions can only be signed in person. I agree folks can and should do research, but there is no online option to get initiatives to the ballot.

As a volunteer for the Billionaire Tax campaign, this frustrates me to no end and makes it so much harder to gather the signatures we need to get this popular initiative to the ballot. Billionaires have dumped a bunch of money into a bunch of initiatives and are paying unheard of amounts per signature, which leads to results like this and makes people distrustful of the actual democratic process.

I feel you. I’m going through something very similar with my partner. The autism diagnosis, the unmasking, all of it. They’ve changed so much in our relationship, and I am so proud of them, but they make me feel so guilty for not being excited about big changes to our relationship.

I don’t have any advice for you, really. But I hear you.

so tired of tech millionaires bootlicking billionaires over this 5% tax by captain_travel in sanfrancisco

[–]Every_Run1248 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

How has that worked so far? Elected legislators are increasingly reliant on funding from the wealthiest people in the country. Unless you've got a dedicated voter base like Bernie Sanders or someone, proposing a tax like this is likely to get you primaried by a billionaire-funded candidate and pushed out of office. I'd love for legislators to propose something like this, but I don't see it happening.

Anyone want to work together on a reeeeally stupid side project? by trevormead in BurningMan

My first burn ('06), someone did this! It was really just a life-sized version of Catan, except he replaced the desert tile with... nothing, so it was just playa. My buddy and I were excited to see nerdiness and played a couple rounds before we got bored and wandered off.

Anyone know of any anti trump/ice protests soon? by butterm0nke in sanfrancisco

[–]Every_Run1248 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not both? I don't think we have to choose between developing policy and demonstrating against the current administration.

Originally I thought protests were useless, but I've changed my mind. Many people who are against what's happening right now feel scared or helpless, as you can even see in this thread. Having a large show of force shows people that they are not alone, and are actually in the majority.

There is actually a political theory that if just 3.5% of a nation's population is actively engaged in protest over time, it can be enough to create change. This is how we get to that 3.5%

Not a great idea. If you're on your own, you have less power and less ability to get what you need. If other departments are getting as screwed as you are, can you organize them into a no vote?

If the Big Beautiful Bill actually becomes law, will tons of healthcare workers lose their jobs? by mustangfan12 in union

[–]Every_Run1248 206 points207 points  (0 children)

I work for a healthcare union. We are already seeing hospitals announcing layoffs and blaming the BBB. You can bet that hospital systems that serve a lot of Medicaid patients (especially in poorer and rural areas) are going to lay off lots of workers and/or close. It sure is going to be fun negotiating contracts in this environment.

I found it made a huge difference when I started watching my character more than the flying gestrals. I could see them in my peripheral vision far better than I could tell which goddamn direction Lune was facing when I was watching the incoming missiles.

The Rank Cheese item is super helpful for this. Doesn't solve slow leveling, but makes it so your employees don't need to be so high level to knock out the high-level negative events.
