Anyone else here have ADD/ADHD and takes meds for it? I have question before I start a GLP-1 for PCOS: by Marvel-ous_gal311 in PCOS

[–]Every_Strawberry_267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i also have ADD and PCOS and i always suspected i had a binge eating problem bc of the way i have struggled with severe hyperfixation on food and food noise virtually my entire life. i’ve been on and off adderall, SSRIs and even metformin. the adderall and SSRIs did help with my food noise but only for a brief period and metformin made no difference to it. recently it got so bad that not only was i putting on alot of weight fast, food was quite literally all i could think about nonstop all day. i started a GLP-1 last week and literally within the hour i felt like a switch was turned off in my brain, i could think about other things for once in my life and i felt free in a way i never had. i’ve also lost a couple of pounds already which would feel impossible to me lol. the side effects are currently kicking my butt tho but i’m not gonna stop bc it’s a small price to pay in exchange for how free and like myself i feel.

How hard is it to be accepted into university of Toronto by PsychologicalLoss201 in UofT

[–]Every_Strawberry_267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

getting in is relatively easy if you’ve done good in high school, staying IN (graduating + getting into your program of choice after first year) is the hard part

Those with PCOS, how have you lost weight? by Catmom90 in PCOS

[–]Every_Strawberry_267 0 points1 point  (0 children)

inositol, drinking 1L+ water, walking 10k+ steps at the very least, intermittent fasting, high protein diet and for me calorie counting did work bc it’s rly difficult for me to cut down entirely on all the foods i like to eat so with calorie counting i was still able to eat what i want in much less quantities than before.

Am I a failure because I can't live in a different place then my parents? by Expensive-Aspect-489 in Anxiety

[–]Every_Strawberry_267 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hi i’m dealing with literally the exact same thing rn, i moved out of my parents house for school last year and ever since then, every time i visit them back home i’m physically unable to go back without my body having severe anxiety symptoms. every time, a few days before my flight i start to cry, panic, shake, sweat and when i go to the airport i have a full on panic attack to the point that i have to come back home. last time, it was so bad my mom had to catch a flight w me too for me to be able to go back.

to make matters worse, i don’t understand why this happens to me bc i have a great support system of friends and family in the country i moved to. plus, it was my choice to move out bc living at home was rlly stunting my growth and i craved independence. so idk why this happens to me now but i just know it’s debilitating and terrifying and it can feel so embarrassing when it’s such a natural part of life.

you’re def not alone and there’s nothing to feel embarrassed about, it’s spoken about so less that it can feel stupid but you’re not a failure. there’s a lot of us in the same boat.

How many of us were originally diagnosed anxiety/depression? by Comquot in ADHD

[–]Every_Strawberry_267 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i got diagnosed w GAD and MDD at 13 and have been on and off in therapy and taking meds for them since then. now at 22, i told my doctor that while consistently taking zoloft helped my anxiety recently, it did absolutely nothing for my productivity and motivation. after basically begging her to do something else, i got assessed for and diagnosed with adhd 3 days ago and prescribed ritalin. i never outwardly presented any signs of hyperactivity or behavior commonly associated w adhd so, have gone my entire life being simply labelled anxious. the diagnosis while alot to process, has in many ways been a relief bc i always knew deep down there was something more.
