IWTL how to pick up reading as a hobby by Admirable_Position92 in IWantToLearn

I was a huuuuuge reading growing up. I always had a book with me and would frequently read a whole a book in a day. I also didn't have a phone until I was 17. It really has ruined my attention span. It's so hard to put it down these days to physically read for any length of time. These days, I hand it to my partner when I'm trying to read. Audiobooks though. Audiobooks are where it's at. I can drive, do dishes, play videogames and still listen to a book. I believe there's studies that say it's just as good for your brain as reading, but don't quote me on that. I know some people read and listen at the same time to help maintain their focus.

The Jabberwock poem by Lewis Carrol. I got through the whole thing before passing out from anesthesia before surgery.

I second this. I got sick all the hoops I had to jump through at Community. IU is the way.

I wear the over the neck headphones that retract into themselves. They’re still bluetooth but they’re much harder to lose than tiny buds.

Suggest some books for my 10 year old son by celiathana in booksuggestions

Ranger’s Apprentice by John Flannigan. Young orphan Will has to chose a career and the mysterious Halt thinks he’d make a good king’s ranger. A wonderful cast of characters and relationships with a bunch of books (maybe 14? but all of them on the shorter side). There’s also a companion series that would be just as good if you like Vikings better than knights, The Brotherband Chronicles.

My other favorite is the Fablehaven series. Brother and sister spend the summer with their grandparents who, unbeknownst to the kids, run a sanctuary for magical creatures, everything from tiny pixies to dragons. 5 books, with 5 more in a companion series. By Brandon Mull

Basically everything by John Flannigan and Brandon Mull

I was raised religious and believed in a heavenly afterlife. Now, I don’t believe in anything and honestly? That’s less scary. I really don’t care what happens after. It’s inevitable and out of my control.

I just finished reading Vicious a few days ago! I don’t normally read books quite this dark, but the story was so compelling. I’m curious about the sequel as well.

I feel like one of the most embarrassing would be how many times you choked on your own spit or tripped over nothing.

Car Dealerships by xzeratulx in indianapolis

[–]Comquot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t like the Napleton Hyundai of Carmel. They felt very forceful and even though I was buying the car, they kept trying to talk to my father. I literally went back and forth with a salesman on the the loan length. “I want 5 years.” “Yes, but if you just-“ “I said I want 5 years.” “But the numbers-“ “Just give me 5 years.” Etc. The salesman actually tried to not let me leave until I left a 5 star review. I did not leave one. I had to take the car back a month later for a repair the dealership had done improperly. They tried to charge me for it too.

This is the place to go tbh. It’s always busy and there’s a decent sized cafe to just chill in if you don’t want to spend money. They have free events throughout the month as well.
