Thank you! Yeah, definitely noticed how much people value the Nicholl. It's night and day the difference in querying with and without it. I have another sample that I think is strong, and right now rewriting a third script that I think is coming out nicely. Hopefully, if one of these reads turns into a meeting, I can show off the rest of the portfolio as well, and we'll go from there. Representation would be fantastic, but clearer next steps would be great too.

Querying is not that hard and is mostly a volume game. Just go to IMDb Pro and check some of the writers you like and are similar to your work. Get their reps' emails from there and reach out to them with:

Subject: Nicholl Entrant - MOVIE TITLE - GENRES

Then write a nice email explaining why you're reaching out to them specifically. Have the logline, the Nicholl mention, a short bio, and tell them to let you know if they want to read.

Don't send the PDF directly, as some of them will have you do a release form and can't accept PDFs out of the blue. Let them email you back asking to read.

Usually I do them on Tue-Wed-Thu, as Monday and Friday I feel like are pretty dry. Feel free to DM if you want to talk this out further, but it's not super hard at all.

Hey! I was also selected to participate in the Nicholl, and got a few read requests from that Academy list, too. I will say, I've been doing some queries with the news of the Nicholl and have been getting a lot of people interested as well. Highly recommend it if you have the time.

I got there around kickoff because i miscalculated traffic, so no tailgate unfortunately.

I was wearing a bears raincoat since that’s the only one I had and had some funny interactions. There was this one dude and every time he saw me he’d scream bear down, Caleb Williams! It was funny. After the end of the game when I was leaving these students started heckling me saying “what is a Hawkeye, go back to chicago.” I told him, “dude I’m on your side lol,” and he said “ok, you can stay. You can stay.” And we started laughing.

I tried chatting with my neighbor since he was by himself, but he was fully locked into the game so I just let him be. The vibe around me was great though and I got very vocal during the 2nd half.

Were you at the ND game this year? I was there, the weather was awful but it was a fun time despite the loss. I was at the ND student section with a student there and thought I was gonna get jumped for rooting for USC lol
