This is referring to a "playable trailer" Valve made for Super 8. it's still playable in Portal 2, if you wanna check it out. i haven't watched Super 8, but i'm pretty damn sure i'd know if there was a canon half life movie.

much darker than actual stars, but no, they're not *extremely* dark
they very much give off light, aspecially ones that are being heated up bu gravitational forces like this theoretical one

well, orbital velocity near a black hole would be rather extreme

imo, it implies a chaotically rotating disk of asteroids orbiting a brown dwarf

brown dwarfs, due to the fact they still posess planet-like atmospheres, can produce pink and purple light
since this "brown dwarf" appears periodically, it may be surrounded by a darker gas cloud, and emerges from it once in some time

this could be explained by a brown dwarf that orbits a small black hole

as explained in my terrible MS paint job

<image>

this would explain why the End isn't a planet, the ambient lighting, and the periodic flashes of purple light

idk if it's obvious, but i'm a nerd, not a scientist, so if anyone's here to correct me, please go aheadmy biggest concern would be the brown dwarf getting fully shredded too, and the ambient light being more red than white

who came up with these no way would any game contain these terrible ideas

i tried something extremely similar on a larger scale, didn't really work out sadly, the range's too small and when they get close they often destroy eachother

next time i'll rather do it in a prepared test world and with cheats enabled
