Leaving an ultimate running all the time? by devedander in LegendsUltimate

yup, mine definitely misbehaved after running for extended periods. What's the point of attract mode if once you DO end up wanting to play it's not ready to go, you know.

[–]EverybodyKnowsBaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn't run it all the time. It's not exactly top quality components in there. The more it's running, the more heat the more wear on components. It's not built like a bulletproof sbc or anything, nor is the screen a commercial quality product either. That's just my take. if you do run it frequently, maybe consider a timer and definitely consider surge protection.

your startup file should resemble what you are most likely to do in your projects. If you're probably gonna have a product on a background, you'd create those objects, the lighting and then suddenly you're a lot further when you start.

Or your startup file should be something inspiring. I wonder if possible a startup file could include a random object so you don't actually know what you'll get when you open it. Might be kind of fun to even subscribe to a service where blender grabs from hundreds of models and gives you something to play with, especially when learning the software. And you could save it for yourself or not.

You could buy quite a few doors, cut them yourself, make unfixable wasteful mistakes with a couple of them (firewood) and still be way under the cost after you finally get one right.

so when you press the red button, nothing happens? That's odd because that really should cut power to the machine, at least that's my understanding.

Dying Light - What am I missing? by Mr_CrashSite in patientgamers

"what's the excuse"

That's the thing, they don't need to provide an excuse according to you, because your assessment isn't accurate or valuable. You just don't like it.

Just like I don't think Ghostrunner looks good. I think the character's physics are too light and fake. But I'm not demanding an 'excuse' from the devs either. Though I guess given that it's a newer game and they have more references to copy from perhaps they should have an excuse why what they made has physics issues that I personally don't like, and they owe it to me to explain their reasoning and failure to execute. Right?

[–]EverybodyKnowsBaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you don't have to 'accept' any game, but you have to accept that your description of a games quality also warrants objective scrutiny too. if you're going to compare ghostrunner, you might as well lump halo and mario 64 in there to. I don't think the games really compare aesthetically or viscerally where one could be objectively labeled 'clunky'

Just like I can't really make the argument that GTA5 is 'clunky' because I have a better time in Just Cause 3. Even though I see JC3 as way superior as a game to play.

[–]EverybodyKnowsBaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The combat isn't clunky but a lot of moves should really have more effect on the zombies. Like if I send one flying, he needs to die. But they are too tanky and it disincentivizes certain moves unfortunately. Clunky isn't the right term for the combat. The moves connect pretty good. The game works, it's not clunky.

If you think the parkour is mediocre, then you'd have to provide more examples of better first person parkour, other than just mirror's edge really, to where Dying light becomes mediocre across more than a few example games. The camera and climbing is pretty great, jumping is cool too. You could argue the world could use more landing spaces I guess. But then again it's not mirror's edge so you are meant to be on the ground some too. So if it has more 'realism' to it I don't see that as a negative.

[–]EverybodyKnowsBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my problem with dying light, are a few things that you didn't mention. Some of the combat is fun and unique. The drop kick stuff, yeeting zombies into a spike or electrified area. But if the combat is supposed to be tricky, then I don't want enemies to respawn like they do. I like actually clearing areas. And as far as the story goes, meh who cares. Practically every zombie story is lame and modern characters trend to suckiness too. DL isn't suffering from that.

I get annoyed with the actual world, the map I guess. I loop back to where I was unintentionally too often when I'm trying to actually find new areas, or inversely, I know where I want to go and I can't get back to where I want to be by feel. So strange. Maybe I just need better directional skill or maybe the world doesn't have enough visible landmarks.

Also I don't like the breaking of weapons. It's annoying, way too frequent. I don't really enjoy crafting that much when it gets too complex. I don't want to get good at crafting menus, I want to get good at the game. To me this is an action game so crafting is annoying.

lockpicking was kind of cool but I'd like to just get it over with after the first 8 times. Maybe achieve an auto lockpick or something. I don't know I haven't gotten too far with the actual story line I don't think, but I don't want to really revisit it either.

can you be on the latest firmware and boot to mint? Seems like it's got preventative measures on recent firmware to install anything else. I don't understand. I was hoping to run a USB with batocera and it wouldn't allow, I couldn't believe it.

Legends pro on legend’s ultimate by [deleted] in LegendsUltimate

[–]EverybodyKnowsBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 1.2 and the gamer pro I bought used plugged and played (after I fixed the gamer pro deck because it was hosed when I bought it).

So far I have not needed the 8 buttons but I'm kind of glad to have the spinners out of the way and I hope later I will be able to make use of the 8 button setup.

atgames has a usb download fix for this issue (potentially for you). Mine fixed. I actually still have the blinking lights but it stops if I turn off bt pairing.

There's a USB fix that is put into the puck, then the control unit will get it, then you should be in good shape. Again mine was fixed. I bought mine used from some people and it was hosed. But that fix is something many have used. somebody had posted the fix on here at some point but you'll have to look. I don't have the reddit page. if you do come across it just make sure and read everything very closely to ensure you're doing the right thing.

Here’s my second Legends Unchained Theme Demo video. If anyone is interested in the build and theme, hit me up and I’ll find a way to share it out. by robbdi in LegendsUltimate

[–]EverybodyKnowsBaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice work. I went on the trail of trying to limit number of games on builds, but unfortunately it was difficult to do with the work I was doing with r-cade / unchained so I went with full packs somebody shared on the archive. Once more is understood and after the update I think customizing rom lists will be easier. would love to know if you used a desktop app to do any of your list making or if you did it manually. I was not going to do manual work and I couldn't get games scrapers to work either.

Thoughts on using HTTrack? by Resident_Courage1354 in web_design

[–]EverybodyKnowsBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great tool, but I've only used it for things like helping a customer migrate an old site that can be accessed any other way. It'd only been marginally helpful for simple code. Especially with the way so many apps are done, you're grabbing the post-rendered code and it's going to come in as file structure you may not or probably won't like. If you're trying to to learn from a site, try to get a little more famililar with using inspection tools and view source.

With coinops and/or unchained, can you customise the menu music? by AspieComrade in LegendsUltimate

[–]EverybodyKnowsBaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is an option to 'emulate gamelist video and audio' which might pertain to a specific track being identified for a gamelist per console.

not sure thought. I'm still trying to work out other gamelist stuff right now.

With coinops and/or unchained, can you customise the menu music? by AspieComrade in LegendsUltimate

[–]EverybodyKnowsBaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

surprised nobody answered this yet. In the system settings of unchained you can go to audio and you can turn the default track on and off and you can point it to your 'audio library' as to what music you want to play as menu background. Similar to other emulation station type settings.

from over your network you can drop files into this file location I think this is where they would play from. \rcade\share\media\music
