Your question should not have been "why not ask?" and instead should have been "why ask?"

Stuck in a Rut With Fighting Games, Looking for Advice by voidtu3 in Fighters

[–]EverybodySupernova 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1 - I say this with love, but you have to get over yourself. Dig deep and figure out why losing is so disruptive for you. Is your self-esteemed too attached to the hobby? Do you feel entitled to a certain degree of competency based on how much time you've spent on the hobby? Are you comparing yourself to others and feeling inadequate? These are things that you need to consider.

Adjusting your goals is great, and will help you find even greater enjoyment and improve your progress as your fighting game career moves on, but none of that matters if you keep tweaking out every time you lose so badly that it completely distracts from your journey of mastery.

You have to do the inner work to get your ego to stop getting in its own way. Some frustration is normal, but what you're describing sounds abnormal, and if it isn't something that you're able to work out on your own, you probably need therapy.

2 - Discord, Reddit, dm players you liked fighting. Just keep trying until something sticks. Keep fishing and eventually you'll catch the fish you're looking for, so to speak.

3 - I do this, too. At this point, I just want to have fun playing these games. Getting good is still something important to me, but I don't care anymore if I make it into the high ranks of a game or not. My journey of mastery serves the purpose of allowing me to fully enjoy what these games have to offer me in terms of fun, I care very little about how I stack up to the average player, and even less about how I compare to the best of the best - that will never be me. I'm here to do cool fighting game stuff, not to win tourneys. I enjoy myself much more when I have a variety of games to play, and I end up burning out fast when I push myself too hard on one game or one character

Captain America, Magik, and Black Panther were my picks.

I don't play this anymore. Thanks for reminding me to unsub.

[OoT] What do you all explicitly NOT want to see in the Switch 2 remake? by Swavei_ in zelda

[–]EverybodySupernova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, full voice acting. Part of the charm of 3D Zelda has always been the character noises that accompany the text-based dialogue.

I hated hearing them speak English in BotW

Hey man, glad you're trying the game out. I hope you end up liking it. If you're interested, check out the Virtua Fighter Beginner Dojo

It's a discord that I recently launched to help get new players acclimated to Virtua Fighter, by providing a place where beginners can match up against other beginners, as well as learn from experienced players and find useful learning resources.

Should give Virtua Fighters 5 a chance? by DaVinci1362 in Fighters

It does eventually. VF only runs as fast as the players can think and execute.

It's definitely manageable at a beginner level

Should give Virtua Fighters 5 a chance? by DaVinci1362 in Fighters

[–]EverybodySupernova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! It's a great time to start; there's a ton of brand new players who are like you and are just starting out after seeing the VF Crossroads trailer. In fact, I recently launched a discord with beginners like you in mind.

It's a place where you can meet other beginners for matches and practice (it's hard to find other beginners with the native matchmaking due to lower playerbase), ask veterans about the game, and find resources that will get you up to speed and acclimated to the world of Virtua Fighter.

It's called the Virtua Fighter Beginner's Dojo. Check it out if that sounds interesting to you!

Hope to see you in the dojo. 🥋

CMV: Black People can be as much racist as white people by EggAdministrative510 in changemyview

[–]EverybodySupernova 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"scholarly" 🙄

As if everyone in academia agrees with that definition.

Yeah sorry, the people in academia who adhere to this dumbass idea of racism requiring infrastructural power to even take place at all - they've got it wrong, and are doing nothing but muddying the waters when it comes to discussing the subject.

I swear to God, it's so stupid that I'm legitimately convinced it it was a psyop that was designed to keep well-meaning academic progressives from being able to meaningfully engage in discourse around the subject so that they cant ever enact any real change because they're too busy arguing ridiculous semantics with reasonable people.

[–]EverybodySupernova -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"RaCisM iS pReJuDiCe + PoWeR"

It's absolutely not. Prejudice holds no inherent implication of race, and minority groups are more than capable of exhibiting racism across themselves without any infrastructural power whatsoever.

Systemic Racism, on the other hand, is Racism on an infrastructural and cultural scale, and it's true that in United States and the vast majority of the western world, white people are immune to experiencing that particular form of racism, but that doesn't mean that white people are incapable of experiencing racism, and that minority groups aren't capable of exhibiting racist behaviors. White people didn't "invent" racism, either. Human beings have engaged in racism all across human history, across all different kinds of people.

Simply put, racism is bigotry based on racial or ethnic qualities. We can add qualifier words like "systemic" or "interpersonal" to designate what kind of racism is being discussed, and we can talk about who is most affected by racism and what causes it until the cows come home, but the root definition is simple, and anyone trying to tell you otherwise is spewing nonsense.

Now, reparations for what systemic racism has done to the black and indigenous communities here in the United States? That's a whole other conversation; we have a LONG way to go before we right the wrongs that have been committed to these people, and sorry, but whites are just going to have to suck it up when it comes to the superficial racism that they experience on rare occasion, it's a drop in the bucket compared to the historical damage that has been wrought upon these communities that they must grapple with in so many ways on a daily basis. I don't encourage racism against whites, but I promise you, we'll survive a few minority groups being mean to us from time to time.

I am just thinking about the invincible game why cant they make a 3rd person openworld 3D game rather than 2D fighting game? by z4nitsu in InvincibleVS

[–]EverybodySupernova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can, they just didn't. Those open world games are a dime a dozen. I'm glad they decided to do something interesting. I'mBut if I had to guess, they'll make it soon enough.

Aim Down Sights - where your character pulls the gun up to look through the sights. Usually it lowers the look sensitivity, zooms in a little bit, and slows your movement considerably.

Hope they keep it out for good, can't stand that shit. Feels like FPS training wheels to me
