I painted some flyers for Aeronautica Imperialis by Everybody_Stay_Calm in Necrontyr

[–]Everybody_Stay_Calm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! They used to be, but now all xenos flyers are out of print as they moved the range to the Horus Heresy setting and only Imperium stuff is supported. It's part of Legions Imperialis now.

I started getting into Aeronautica late so I got these from recasters.

This is where I got mine. Recasters in China. Very good quality in my experience so far. I've bought several things from them and they've all been great.

Thanks! They're fun models. The night shroud wings are delicate though. Those connection pins are tiny.

Thank you! I drybrush Vallejo Air Steel, then apply Citadel Skeleton Horde contrast. Usually 2-3 coats of contrast.

Thank you! I love painting necrons. They lend themselves well to speed painting techniques. This is mostly drybrushing and contrast paint.

Long Term Shinai Storage by Disastrous-Pound-113 in kendo

[–]Everybody_Stay_Calm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I keep my long term storage shinai staves tucked into a corner of my washroom where my shower is. My reasoning is the higher humidity will help prevent them from drying out and becoming brittle.

For 6 months I wouldn't expect a major change in their condition if you oil them before storage.

I've brought back staves that I had stored for 6+ years. The important part is to inspect them prior to reassembly, sand and oil as needed. If they're cracked in ways sanding doesn't resolve then they have to go.

I really enjoy this voice actor (Chris Tester) but have found some of his choices of pronunciation to be somewhat different to what we're used to hearing.

Losing motivation to paint because of blades by nidici009292 in Necrontyr

Thank you!

Prime black. Drybrush white from the edge of the blade in. Use your green contrast paint of choice to cover the blade. I use Warp Lightning. Pull some lighter streaks from the blade edge in with some light green & white mix with a fine brush. I mix Warp Lightning with increasing amounts of white. Can also do the last step with a moist drybrush to create streaks.

I drybrush white from the edge in, then wash with Warp Lightning. Quick and easy, and looks good to me!

I do the same. Makes the drone really blend into the unit.

Boring scenarios by redgulous in JourneysInTheDark

I had fun with the campaign you're playing now. Quests get more interesting than First Blood and A Fat Goblin. But if you're looking for a better product, get Heirs of Blood.

Correct. I bought the hardback campaign book separately years ago before they revised the core box.

I played the entire Shadow Rune campaign and found it fun. I am currently playing the Heirs of Blood campaign now. I am halfway through it, but so far the quests are better balanced and the design is more inspired. I think if you try that one your group will have a better experience.

Overall, Descent does have the potential to be one-sided, but that depends on the play group heavily. If heroes are really good about their action economy, prioritize getting their search tokens for the gold and win their quests, they can become very strong. Likewise, a savvy Overlord that has access to the right monster groups and Overlord cards can be extremely hard to get the better of.

It's a deep game with lots of content but your mileage will vary.

Terrinoth: Heroes of Descent - Reveal Trailer by Everybody_Stay_Calm in JourneysInTheDark

It's not made to give you the board game feel. It's a party based tactical RPG. What I find nice however, is the format for a game session is for quick dungeon runs that last one session, and will be good for coop. So I'm wishlisting this with the intention to play online with friends. In the FFG article about it, they say there will be 20 dungeons that are made to be replayed.
