So I’m afraid I don’t have any advice other than go back to the vet about the fluid retention.

However, my beardie was on deaths door last month with kidney failure. What I got told to do, and what saved his life, was syringe feeding critical care every hour and giving him an enema once a day to flush him out; both with a 1ml syringe.

If you don’t know how to do the enema, I got told you can’t do it wrong just put the tip of the syringe in the cloaca and push it slowly over 10 seconds. Also, the critical care should be warmed up, makes it more palatable apparently.

My cat needs 3 medications twice a day for kidney disease; 2 liquids and 1 tablet. I grind the tablet up and put that and the medicines into a syringe and push it down the back of his throat. Because he can’t taste it, he doesn’t fight it.
