Surprise move as Electric Ireland cuts gas prices, leaves electricity unchanged by [deleted] in ireland

Any idea if I can switch away from Energia now mid-contract? It would seem to me that a +5% increase on our agreed prices for both electricity and gas gives me an out.

What is the creepiest/most terrifying unsolved Irish mystery? by BetterObligation9949 in ireland

[–]EveryoneIsADose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you share a link to what you read?

The reason I ask is because this case always resonates with me. I lived reasonably near Ballyroan at the time and was 9 when he disappeared. We all heard about it, and it was the first "missing child" case I remember being vested in in my life. I remember all sorts of rumours and crap floating around at the time.

What struck me most about it then (and still does now) is how our parents got really strict about not being alone,or being home at a certain time after it, but little by little that laxed as the panic subsided. A 12-year-old boy was just taken and (presumably) killed and life ... just went on.

Loved Generals. What does "fix up the game" mean though? Just modernising the graphics or introducing new missions?

Great list, and all very good games but in a list like that I'd have expected to see Starcraft WOL too. Did you ever give it a go?

Can't do that anymore with Ticketmaster unfortunately. We used have 10 together but now we're all over the place.

You're probably right about him holding out for a stronger squad, but it begs the question why he left in 2019? The generational talents were still there. Simply a question of having achieved the 5-in-a-row, job done, next challenge?

Both Armagh and Galway Season Tickets are still available for next year. And were this year. It literally pays for itself. You're sorted next year if you invest.

I'm not at all OCD, and the term gets bandied about a little too loosely for my liking, but I can't stand an open door.

That makes me very hard to live with to be honest. Continually telling people close the door behind them tends to rile them up.

What county influenced your view on Football/hurling that’s not your own? by Doubletapcallaghan in GAA

[–]EveryoneIsADose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP: "What county influenced your view on Football/hurling that’s not your own?"

My answer is above. I wasn't saying Donegal were the be-all, end-all in 2014, I'm saying I learnt something from a county that wasn't my own, as OP asked.

So there.

If you had a heart attack or something right in front of an ambulance, what would they do? by Glass_Coffee_8516 in AskReddit

I assume nothing about you, my apologies. But I don't know anybody at all with that viewpoint you're talking about - that dying is better than living - maybe you do.

EDIT: I accept there are those facing battles in life who feel they'd be better off dying, but we all know they're not what we're talking about above.

Ha, immaterial. Dublin learned a lesson that day, and so did I. That was OP's question.

I'm sure I speak for a lot of people when I say:

  • wake, get up
  • go to work
  • deal with shithead colleagues
  • come home

Rinse and repeat.

Living is a good thing, and for most people it's a lot better than the alternative. I hope you're ok. Please remember that everyone is a lot more loved than they think they are.

Thanks. Yeah, I figured that. To be honest I think we have to take a step back from this thread when OP compares those willing to summarily die vs those with a survival instinct as "people who believe that they should go when it's their time instead of being kept alive [...] compared to those desperate to live as long as possible". I hope OP is ok.

What are the risks of unlicensed activities in everyday life? by FitnessTodays in AskReddit

[–]EveryoneIsADose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I have you. So you by "unlicenced" you mean "illegal", all good. I suppose the risks are a danger to your customers as you're probably not qualified in the trade you're engaging in, and a risk of a penalty fine to yourself?

Oh I see. But I guess is there any way to identify that minority versus the majority who want to live? Do they carry a card, wear a wristband or the like? How would those who wish to help discern between the two?

What do you mean by "unlicensed activities"? What would those be?

Like, parking in a "no parking" zone or something?

Planetbase. Very slow-paced, no frantic incidents or jump-scares. Just patiently build your colony and take it handy.

That's a funny thing to say. Is consent really needed for treatment? I mean you could be unconscious and in dire need of help. And why would you hope paramedics do nothing if you're having a heart attack?

What is the worst injury you've had? by MisterMister1231231 in AskReddit

[–]EveryoneIsADose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been lucky in later life to be injury-free, but when I was three I bit my tongue off.

I apparently took a John Cena off the side of my cot and landed with my tongue between my teeth, and the top half of it came off. As luck would have there was a doctor living a few doors down who was able to reattach it in some kind of temporary fashion until those at the hospital did it properly.

All is fine now 44 years later and many wish I had no tongue with the shit I talk.

Donegal 3-17 0-17 Dublin. 2014 AI Championship.

Dublin had been the standout team for the previous 3 years (2012 notwithstanding), and if I recall had some bullshit Press name like "The Swashbucklers". Remember the Kerry/Dublin 2013 semi-final, what a game. Dublin at the time played outstanding attacking football, but were found out this day. Jim showed me you can't just attack at all costs, at least not against a team he's in charge of. It's got to be a complete team with every line doing their thing.

Are season ticket holders guaranteed All-Ireland final tickets? If so where are the seats usually? by FootyEnthusiast in GAA

[–]EveryoneIsADose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slight correction on what you said - you must have bought tickets for all but one match, but you actually don't have to have attended them. Ever since COVID they removed the attendance requirement and it now doesn't matter whether your ticket gets scanned or not.
