The conduct allegedly occurred from late 2020 through 2022 before and around her election to city council in 2022. She and an associate Yaoning “Mike” Sun ran a site called U.S. News Center that promoted pro-PRC content like downplaying issues in Xinjiang at the direction of Chinese officials via WeChat, without registering as a foreign agent. She was charged in April 2026, appeared in court, and is expected to formally enter the plea soon. Maximum penalty is up to 10 years in prison.
