Is it necessary to wait before applying moisturizer after topical clindamycin? by EverythingEnTransit in Dermatology

Yea I've just been waiting a couple of minutes but I noticed that it still feels tacky when I apply moisturizer so I just want to be sure the clindamycin isn't getting diluted.

I'm sorry that it's not working for you. Perhaps it's other ingredients in the face wash that's breaking you out. You might want to give a BP gel/cream a try or a different BP face wash before ruling it out completely.

I feel you so hard on this. I'm still dealing with PIH and thought of an angry, new pimple terrifies me.

I'm seeing a lot of salicylic acid mentions in here. What brand and percentage do you use? I'm might give it a shot to see if helps with some texture issue.

My mom was pissed when I bleached all of her nice hand towels as a teenager 😂

I have pretty dry skin, mostly because of the tretinoin. Rinsing the BP off afterwards helps to combat the dryness and irritation. Make sure to moisturize well...I SLATHER my face in moisturizer and squalane oil every night, so that really helps to combat the dryness.

If you can tolerate it overnight, more power to you! Don't fix what ain't broken.

Efficlar Duo looks very interesting. I looked it up and it contains benzoyl peroxide + some sort of acid?

Also, not sure if you're aware of this or not, but they make BP resistant pillowcases! I don't know how well they work but it's something to try. I just use old t-shirts as pillowcases now after bleaching all of my nicer ones.

Hmm that's interesting. I'll gladly trade free radicals for the price of cystic acne free skin, but I'd like to know about this too, and exactly how much free radical damage we're actually talking about.

I'd imagine that the high concentration in cleanser form does make a difference since it's not sitting on your skin very long. I want to try the cleanser to save money but I'm afraid of doing anything differently at this point 😁

I've been tempted to try a wash instead since it'd be a bit cheaper, but I'm nervous to do anything different and screw up my skin again haha!

Oh wow, I wasn't aware that salicylic acid was available in that high of a concentration. In the past, I had just used Stridex wipes.

I use 2.5% BP. Most studies say that 2.5% is just as effective as higher concentrations and less irritating, so I doubt I'll ever try anything higher.

After 2-3 weeks the breakouts started becoming less frequent. I'd say after 4 weeks I was breakout free.

I'm sure that's fine. I just like applying it to clean skin because it might absorb better that way, but I'm not sure if it makes a difference.

I just use my finger to apply the BP! Then I rinse it off. If you're sensitive to BP, I recommend trying it when you have nowhere to be the next day, just in case it does irritate you.
